Purchased for a Book Club discussion. Excellent read! Half the book was read one month and discussed to guess "Who Dunit"; read remainder for following month to find out how many of us were right! (Only one person guessed right!). P.D. James waits until just about the last chapter before the "Who Dunit" is finally revealed. Enjoyed ALL of her murder mystery books.

A historical mystery novel.This book was a great bargain! It is very well written. Using the historical setting gives it special appeal. A complex theme keeps it interesting and exciting. P.D. James is an excellent author, and I would recommend this title.

The lighthouse is a typical suspense novel that fully involves the reader with the story. The quality that makes this book special is the uniqueness of its story. I have read many detective novles, but I had never encountered one with the same qualities as The Lighthouse.
