After the last Zelda (Zelda II: Adventure of Link) going down in shambles, this game brings the series back to life! It has all the qualities of the first Zelda and much more. It is a fabulous game, awesome story line, and fantastic music. A+

I cannot think of anything the makers of this game could have done to make it any better. Playing this was exciting from the beginning to the end. There is a huge world to explore with fun side quests, and many people to talk with. I loved all the different unique areas to explore, and to find out where I could go to next with my new abilities. The game surprised me many times with its fresh new look and being able to do so much, and the puzzles were not so frustrating to loose the fun out of it. This game will always be near and dear to me, I loved playing this game, and it will always be one of my favorite games.

  Zelda wow great for snes

Those of us that have been with Link since the beginning can recognize what a brilliant game this is. Comparing the Legend of Zelda with Final Fantasy is insane. Link has been around since the blurred techno-color graphics of the original NES. "The Legend of Zelda" has become somewhat of a household name- whether you've played it or not, you've surely heard of it. And we, the proud and true fans of the Zelda series, those of us that sat on our ... for hours on end when that first game came out, glued to the screen of our now out of date televisions, drooled when SNES came out with its latest edition, morphed to expand the ever evolving storyline for the new platform. Even compared to the N64 OoT and MM, this game shines above the rest. The Legend of Zelda was the defining moment in the emerging realm of RPG's for standalone platforms- all the others, including Final Fantasy merely wafted in the shadows, followed, duplicated, and mutated until they were different and fully grown to survive on their own. Tride and true roleplayers aren't there for the graphics. They're there for the story, the history, and the game's ability to suck you in. I've found no other roleplaying game that comes close to this one.
Those of us that have been there since the beginning bow down our heads in modest recognition. Zelda Rules.

  GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME
Review created: 06/23/09

This will be the only time I ever say this in reference to a video game: Perfect.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System is the video games that I compare all other video games to. I first played it back when I was probably about 7 years old, with my dad--we used to stay up all night playing Zelda together, taking turns actually playing, and helping one another figure out the secrets and the puzzles and so on. This is where my love for video games was born. It is also where my funniest gamer moment comes from:

Back when I first played this game, it was when the Super Nintendo Entertainment System just came out--so back then I couldn't go to GameFaqs.com to look at the walkthrough if I got stuck, because no one had a computer, much less the internet back then--and even if we did have both, there were no websites like that. So one night, my Dad and I were playing Zelda for SNES and we got to this one part where there's a ledge, and a big, dark black hole, that you died if you fell into--it wasn't one of the ones that just brought you down a floor. We knew for sure that we needed to get over this big black hole and get to what was on the other side, but we were completely stumped. We tried and tried for hours to figure it out. And when all else failed, armed with a Nintendo Power magazine, we dialed a number on the telephone. The Nintendo Game Help Hotline. A 900 number, something like $10 for the first minute and $6 for each additional minute after that.

Turns out you had to put on the robe and you just flew right over it.

A Link to the Past has everything you could ask for in a video game. It looks great, sounds great (thanks to the tunes of the legendary Koji Kondo), and it has the kind of timeless and lovingly crafted gameplay that is every bit as fun and engaging today as it was when it made its debut almost 15 years ago. We are honored to name The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past as THE greatest game of all time.

The 3rd in the Zelda series & the 1st for the SNES. Part Action/Adventure...Part Strategy...Part RPG. A great game for all ages-A true Classic. This should have a 5/5 rating - some people rate the transaction instead of the game.

Having lost my original copy of the game, eBay seemed like a great place to pick up another copy of one of my favorite games. A great classic in The Legend of Zelda series. This is the third game in the series and the only game released for Super Nintendo. Anyone who likes the Zelda series and hasn't already played this, should seriously look into getting their hands on a copy of this game.

Classic Video Game? Or The Classic Video Game?
Review created: 07/05/07

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

There are those of us who grew up playing video games, from the frustration of Atari coupled with the frustration of grade school to the advanced graphics and gameplay of a PS2 coupled with advanced college degrees. Very few games provide the experience the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. (LOZ:LTTP).

Based off the ridiculously popular Zelda games for Nintendo, the Super Nintendo version explores the land of Hyrule in a similar, yet completely unique way. Friends and enemies remain the same, as Link must fight to save both Princess Zelda and his homeland of Hyrule from Ganon and his minions. However, the gameplay, graphics, and sound in this game reach heights that few other SNES games could. The advances made between NES and SNES are amazing when comparing the two Zelda games.

The gameplay is similar to that of the original LOZ, where Link must explore the overworld for rupees, heart containers, friends, and various items. To find the valuable items, and collect pieces of the tri-force, Link must venture into the underworld, dungeons full of traps, trickery, and trials. Assorted monsters guard the tri-force pieces, so Link must be prepared to fight. He uses a sword and shield, along with items such as arrows, bombs, elemental attacks and many more. There are many, many secrets in the game, which provide an excellent re-play value.

Link's journey begins in the normal land of Hyrule, but he must also travel between Light and Dark worlds to complete his quest. Ganon was able to create a gateway between the light and dark world using Princess Zelda and others, one which will slowly destroy the light world and replace it with the terrible dark world. Link must conquer both worlds in order to restore peace to the land.

If there is a SNES without this game anywhere, there is a problem. If you do not own this game and either like Zelda, Nintendo, or monsters, YOU MUST OWN THIS GAME. Top 5 SNES game.

I love this game. There are hidden items evrerywhere. The path is very clear, when you talk to people for clues on where to go next no one is vague, they either tell you what you want to know or other good info that will eventually get you to the correct spot and you get an adventure along they way.

But the absolute best is how you can play the flute and have it take you place without walking all the way back. It make some of the tasks bearable.
Months of fun with or with out the strategy guide.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is flat out my favorite video game of all time. If you don't have a Super Nintendo I would buy one off of ebay and purchase this game with it. It will probably cost less than a new game and be way more fun. Graphics do not equal fun. FUN equals FUN, and this game is as fun as it gets. Thanks for reading my review, Rich Mary

This is a kick@$$ game and actually started Zelda for me. It was the first Zelda I played. I loved it and have been a big time Zelda fan since. I've actually went back in time and played Zelda 1 and 2 on NES which came before this SNES classic. LTTP is a great game, lots of fun bosses to battle and great puzzles.

Best Action RPG for the SNES!!!
Review created: 11/27/06
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Pros
+ Classic Legend of Zelda taken up to the 16-bit level.
+ Real Depth in the story as you have to traverse the world of light & dark.
+ Lots of action, adventure, & role playing for any fan of gaming.
+ Great Soundtrack.

Cons
- The only Legend of Zelda title released on the SNES.

Comments
I loved this game when it was released and still do today. This is just one of those classics that stick with you. Anyone who hasn't played this game either isn't a true gamer or can't find a copy. Check out the GBA version if you can't find this one or download from the Wii site. This is a must play.

Verdict
Must have title for any fan of the series & a benchmark for the 16-bit era.

  A Link To The Past
Review created: 10/13/09

Easily one of the best action RPGs ever made. The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past engages players in a long, compelling story of the hero Link rescuing princess Zelda from the antagonist Gannon. Switching between Light and Dark worlds, you must solve puzzles and fight amazing enemies along the way.
