The Last Starfighter (DVD, 1999, Collector's Edition)

This is a great SCI- FI Movie from 1984. It stars (then) youngsters Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart along with Robert Preston and a fantastically made up Dan O'Herlihy (plays a cool alien). This crew puts on well acted scenes along with special effects that rivaled Star Wars 3. It is a good story line well acted and supported. Clean enough for kids from 2 to 90 to enjoy. This is my second version of the move. The first is on VHS and sized down I was thrilled to find the Wide Screen DVD as the special effects overwhelmed the size of the old TV. I have watched it 2 times since I purchased it and keep finding new little nuances taking place in the sidelines. I highly recommend this to any and all Sci-Fi Fans!

This is a movie that takes me back to, what I believe to be a better time! The
special effects might seem a little hokey to the younger generation, but to me, it is a reminder of a time when movies were a bit more entertaining in a more fundamental level.
These days, it seems that a sci-fi movie has to have such graphic effects, that it takes away from the entertainment of the actual story! It's all about
how fast and fantastic the graphics are. I prefer the the older sci-fi flicks!
I am a huge fan of the old Star Wars, more so then the 3 newer episodes. And Star Trek is still one of my favorite TV shows.
The Last Star Fighter is simply put, a good movie!

I remember when the movie firts came out. I was a young teen. This movie struck a cord with me...who doesn't dream of having a great hidden talent that is discovered and eventually helps save the world?

My kids love it too...great viewing for the whole family. Neat story--a kid growing up in a trailer park rises to greatness. Good values throughout.

Since I watch this everytime it shows on TV I thought I should go ahead and buy it. I enjoy the idea of a kid making it good even if it is in space!

I paid for the dvd "The Last Starfighter" on May 10, 2009. I have not heard from nor have they sent the movie. I will never trust this seller in buying anything else. I would sugest that anyone wanting to buy from this seller to reconsider and pay a little more with another seller to be sure they receive it.

The movie was an underground classic and stayed rarely known, but those of us who had seen it liked it a great deal. The graphics were stunning for the time, and still stand up well even today.
Great family movie, safe for all ages and interesting to anyone with a space taste.

First of all ,I don't like space movies,science fiction,Star Trek or any of the
other movies or shows like them .But one night I was at a friends house and The Last Star Fighter was on his TV and I loved it for its humor and the way the young man was chosen to fight for the star league .A wonderful family movie that's entertaining and attention keeping throughout the whole movie.For me, this movie is the kind of movie that I can set back and enjoy, to relax and unwind from the grind of the world.

"The Last Starfighter" was a ground-breaking Science Fiction movie. When you consider how long ago the movie was made, you'll have to agree that the CG was way ahead of it's time. Although George Lucas took CG to new heights with the recent Star Wars trilogy, he did so at the expense of actors actually looking like they were interfacing with their environment. For its time, "The Last Starfighter" is the perfect marriage of real-life sets, actors, and convincing CG.

I encourage you to pick up a copy here on eBay!

le dvd est en excellente condition, tres bonne communication avec le vendeur. Par contre je lui ai demande s'il y avait le language francais et il m'a affirmer que oui. Il y a francais mais en sous-titre mais non en audio, C,est peut-etre mon erreur lors de notre discussion. Je le garde quand meme, il me fera pratiquer mon anglais,

Classic Movie... bought it for the kids to watch. They didn't get as excited as I did when I was a kid, but what do you expect with all of today's special effects. Still a good movie.

The concept was good, but this is just a low budget kids film!
I enjoyed the idea of a trailer park kid who saves the world for his skills playing video games. The special effects were cheesie at best! Also, the acting and directing was sub-standard.

I bought this movie for my 8 year old son to watch with me beacuse I couldn't do it justice telling him about it. I remembered watching it when I was his age and it's still awesome. I even had to buy the soundtrack just to load into my Ipod so I could get the chills when the spaceship takes off and the video game says 'Greetings Starfighter....' You know what I mean.

The Last Starfighter is one of those good 'ole movies like Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles that just doesn't lose its class. In someways, I'm bummed there wasn't more of them. But maybe that's a good thing.

If you're up for a fun, good-natured, funny sci-fi adventure, this is your movie.

This movie is funny! It is graphically excellent, and it takes time to set up the elaborate inside joke of the story. Really WINNING...all of us love it.

I loved this movie when it first came out, and I love it still. I was glad to have a chance to get it and share a bit of mt youth with my kids.

I grew up with this movie. It only has a few mild swear words so it is also great for my kids. The show is an all time classic. Great for all ages

This movie is an oldie and still a fun story to enjoy. It has a positive message and teaches that most of us are far more capable in any situation than we give ourselves credit for. Even the ending, when the hero returns for the love of his life and she leaves everything behind to join him in his new life is encouraging and fun. It is an action movie, but without all the violence you find in newer films and it focuses more on the relationships between the characters than using special effects.

This is a great, feel good, sci-fi movie from the 80's. I had this on VHS when I was a teenager and now that my son is old enough to enjoy this movie, I wanted to buy it so we can watch it together. I looked for it at an electronics "mega-superstore" in the Houston area. When I could not find it there, I decided to buy it from eBay instead of searching high and low for the item. I knew that I could find it on eBay instead of driving to five different stores to find it. The S&H ended up being far less than the gas to find it would have been.

I bought this for my husband, it was his favorite movie when he was younger. The movie is from the 80's ( my favorite generation). We had the movie on VHS, but it was barely playable. The DVD format is clear as it was back 20 years ago. Great Movie for the SCI-FI kid in all of us.
