Reviews This collection is truly unique. Lennon in hos own words. It's as if you were in the studio with him! No true Lennon fan can be without this one! Every song ever made. A+ P.S. I AM THE WALRUS (It's not John or Paul...It's ME)!!! Review ID: 10000000006197541 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 01/07/07 by: 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. A must have for any Lennon fan. The tracks are almost all alternate takes and or deom versions. Many have John talking prior and after the tracks. The coolest thing is that it is not a "Greatest Hits" rather a marking of each stage if you will of John's writing and recording. Report this review Review created: 03/14/03 by: standells -- a member of Epinions Pros: 4 discs of alternate takes, live tracks, from Lennon s post-Beatles repertoire. Cons: Absolutely none. John Lennon is a man who has great musical talent and determination. From his peace efforts, to his beautiful songs, he has had a great impact on the entire world. This collection takes some of his best unreleased material and put it on 4 great CDs. Each one is a special "chapter" with one of Lennon s cartoons on the cover of each one. The first CD is called Ascot which is from 1969-1971, the time Lennon was living in a house in Ascot. The second CD is called New York City. It contains material from 1971-1973. The third CD is called The Lost Weekend, which has songs from 1973-1974 and one... We're both big fans of the Beatles and Lennon's solo work so it seemed like the perfect gift. In some ways it was. Some songs that you might know are:Imagine, Working Class Hero (although this version is an unpolished studio version), and Steel and Glass (again unpolished). There are many studio out take versions of songs and cover tunes. The set contains 4 CD's and a booklet. There are some touching moments in there with John talking to a very young Sean Lennon, some studio out takes that are entertaining, and some off the wall...
