Genre: Drama/Action/Mystery
Warnings: Some language and violence, mild adult content

When Koontz writes these days, he writes so well that I can’t put the novel down – so I have to begin reading it early in the day if I want to sleep that night.

Unfortunately I was up all night with this one, a very good one - and I started reading far too late.

The Husband by Dean Koontz is a murder/drama/mystery with nothing of the supernatural involved other than the occasional feelings of closeness or dread among the characters.

To not give the plot away, this is an excellent read. I couldn’t put it down. The story is about a middle-income gardener whose wife is kidnapped; the kidnappers’ demand? Two million dollars! Where is a simple gardener to get that kind of money? Then he discovers the secrets – within secrets- within secrets. And his life and the people he admired in his life were never really what he believed them to be. His life – and he – will never be the same.

What follows is a trail of intrigue involving his own family and their many SURPRISING secrets along with a painful delving into his own past - and a reconciliation with that past in order to gain the strength to save his wife.

In light of a SHOCKING betrayal, a trail of self-discovery and recognition of many hard truths, he finds within himself a strength gained from his past as a neglected, abused child that he never dreamed he could have; an ability to fight for what is his own, what he loves and for what he wants to hang onto.

He turns from an ordinary man into almost a ‘super man’, surprising not only himself but everyone around him.

The power of love can do wonders.

How much does he really love his wife?
Review created: 05/31/07

And just how far will he go to get her back? Mitch is just an ordinary guy living an ordinary life with the woman of his dreams. Life is very good until out-of-nowhere a group of high-tech, calculating psychos kidnap his wife and demand a ransom of two million dollars. Mitch has no clue where a lawn gardener can find that kind of money, but the kidnappers have a well thought out plan that is slowly and painfully revealed in stages. And just when you think you have everything and everyone figured out – bam! Dean Koontz takes you on another wild ride through some unimaginable twists and turns. This is another great masterpiece by the master of mystery! Its amazing how this writer can have you doing belly laughs one minute and pulling the covers over your head the next. Make sure you have some reading time on your hands when you pick up this book, because you are not going to want to put it down.

A must read for the Koontz fan! The latest novel boasts drama, gut wrenching excitement, love, pain, agony, intrigue! Mitch Rafferty has his hands full in Koontz's latest novel. Mitch must find a way to ransom his wife at the cost of $2 million dollars. How or will a landscaper find the way to come up with the kidnappers demands. The novel has many twists and turns that keeps the reader excited, spellbound. I just finished this book and could not put it down. I'll be off to get his latest novel today.

"The Husband" is a stand-up guy

Dean Koontz is a great horror story writer. This book, "The Husband" is not a horror story but it's still great. No science fiction or fantasy, just a really good suspenseful story. Mr Koontz has the gift of capturing the mood the way the average person might feel it. The desperation and elation. Every time I had to put it down, I felt bad about leaving the characters stuck where they were until I started reading again. I would definitely recommend this book.

This was a great book that really showed some insight into what humans are capable of if put in the right situation. The novel was fast-paced and well written, holding onto my attention until the very last page, although I was tempted to skip ahead just to find out what was going to happen :o)

Excellent book. I used to be an avid Dean Koontz fan and reader. Then he started getting too wordy and rambling. He became boring and I found I would skip over gaps in his books. I stopped reading him years ago.

I purchased this one on EBay, price and shipping were right and Seller was good. I realy got into the book immediately and could not stop reading it. I kept going back to it. Just one more chapter and landed up reading it all.

The plot kept me interested and no rambling or getting off the subject. I highly recommend it as it is an excellent read. Good characters and humanity.

THIS IS A TYPICAL KOONTZ. IT IS WHAT WE HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM KOONTZ. A CHARACTER ACCESSMENT THAT TURNS A " HUSBAND " INTO A HERO. NOTHING ELSE IS IMPORTANT EXCEPT HIS WIFE AND HER SAFE RETURN. THIS BOOK HAS EVERYTHING, LOVE , BETRAYAL, BRUTAL CHILD ABUSE, A HERO AND A HEROINE. PUT IT ALL TOGETHER AND YOU HAVE "DEAN KOONTZ".

This was my first Dean Koontz book and what an introduction to him. This book is action packed from beginning to end. It's a very exciting story and keeps you wanting to turn the page. The story is about a husband who has to come up with $2 million dollars to ransom his wife, but more importantly it's about the lives of those people who touch their lives. Great read.

  Koontz, The Husband

Dean Koontz has done it again. The Master of Suspense pens yet another "can't put it down" novel that has it all: Love, betrayal, intrigue, and a twist you don't see coming. I thought this book started off great, capturing the reader with a situation that perks your interest and makes you look over your shoulder. The twist was a complete surprise, the ending a great finale to this book. Highly recommended to all and a MUST read for Koontz fans.
