The Hudsucker Proxy by Original Soundtrack (CD, Mar-1994, Varese Sarabande USA)

What's on the CD is great and as with most soundtracks you probably buy of your favorite movies, you're left wondering 'where's the rest of it?' Aram Khachaturian, upon who's music for the Gayne Ballet Carter Burwell arranged as the soundtrack to the Coen Brother's 'touch of genius' THE HUDSUCKER PROXY, is the perfect driving sound for the movie. Sadly, the soundtrack seems to be lacking the ONE track I was desperating hoping would be here -- when the shopclerk throws the hoolahoops out the door and one finds a kid who 'discovers' it... the music during this whole episode seems to be missing from the CD. Well, I guess I can live with that (or rather, until someone comes out with a special edition CD for the music, I'll HAVE to live with it and just be thankful that Varese Sarabande produced the soundtrack at all). Soundtrack runs for only about 29 minutes (give or take a few seconds). Sound quality is fine...nothing an audiophile is going to rejoice in, but for a fan of the movie and Burwell, the music itself is nice enough. My suggestion to someone buying this soundtrack online is, the very day you order this CD ALSO get a dolby surround version of Aram Khachaturian's GAYNE SUITE/BALLET because once you're done listening to the soundtrack, the full Gayne Ballet will 'fill in the gaps' of missing music. I'm giving the soundtrack a 4 out of 5 -- what is here is perfect, but there should have been more of the music from the movie in this sountrack (for the opening track, crank your stereo WAYYYY up...the cresendo will knock your socks off).
