The Holiday (DVD, 2007)

THIS IS A GREAT DATE MOVIE! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE FOR THAT OR A GIRLS NIGHT IN! I LOVE THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN CAMERON DIAZ AND JUDE LAW THEY ARE SO AMAZING TOGETHER THEY REALLY SHINE TOGETHER IN THIS MOVIE!
IT IS VERY WELL WRITTEN AND WELL ACTED I HAVE BOUGHT THIS MOVIE AS A GIFT FOR SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT ALSO LOVED THIS MOVIE!

I am honestly shocked that I liked this film. Yes, I am a heterosexual male, and yes this is definitely what people would call a chick flick. However, it ended up being a very good film, with only a few moments of sickening saccharine (mainly when Jude Law was trying to act).

The cast was great. Jack Black didn't jump around and wiggle his appendages throughout the entire film - he managed to appear normal. Cameron Diaz was the most believable on-screen female I've ever seen; sorry ladies, but the way her emotions led her through an almost bipolar succession of dating philosophies (I love you, I hate you, hold me, don't touch me!) reminded me, very uncomfortably, of a couple of ex-girlfriends. Scary stuff, kiddies! Also, that chick, whose name I forget, from Titanic was really good, too. And no Celine Dion music this time, thank the gods! Rufus Sewell was malevolent as always, and Jude Law did not make me physically ill, which is a vast improvement over his last few films.

I would highly recommend this film as a date movie. It's got the corny stuff women crave, and it is boyfriend safe - no men were harmed during the testing of this product. Moreover, and pardon me for being serious for a moment, it is a pretty good story, with many interesting subplots woven together in a believable way.

IF you love stupid predictable romantic comedies you will love this one. Its fun and if you love Cameron Diez you will also love this.

Cute love story. You will fall in love with this attractive cast. Jack Black is so funny. Jude Law makes a sweet father.

This Was Really Good For a 'Chick Flick'.... after watching Tenacious D, Children of Men, etc for the weekend, I got this one to watch with my wife.

Jack Black was sooooooo much better in this serious role he played than what he was in Tenacious D. Not as good as he was in 'School of Rock' but showed that he could do a serious role.

Cameron Diaz... I have liked her ever since she blossomed on the screen in 'The Mask'. She played this role very well.

Jude Law.... well my wife as usual enjoyed his role in this movie!

This was a good mixture of cast, and the storyline, altho a little implausible, was a fun one!

Recommended for at least a rental viewing !!

Okay, it starts off slow and drags. But if you can stay with it, it's fun.
A nice romantic comedy. Some scenes were hysterical. Most women could relate.
Definitely a chick flick or date movie.
Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet made you root for them and for love. Christmas love - the most romantic of seasons - makes it even more special.
No violence, foul language or descriptive sex scenes so it is good for most ages.
I enjoyed and recommend viewing it but I doubt I would buy it or watch it again real soon.
It is a bit too long for me to see more than once.
I rate it as Good!!

I was all snuggled in, fat free popcorn and diet pepsi in hand, ready to enjoy a chick flick and popped in this DVD. It was so lame and formulaic, I found myself rolling my eyes and actually fast forwarding to see if anything interesting was going to happen. It didn't. I had high hopes, I really like Jack Black and Jude Law. I do not recommend this movie.

The Holiday

I started out hating it, then I started to like it, then I loved it, then I hated it again, then I loved it and then I hated it.

It's hard to say how I feel about this movie, it's definitely not a 'Guy-Friendly' Chick Flick but it's pretty decent.

For the most part I was bored out of my mind but there were several sequences that were either really funny or really touching so I can't say that this movie was a complete waste.

I give it a 3/5 but my girlfriend loved it and since it's a Chick Flick I guess her opinion matters a lot more than mine. She gave it a 5/5.

Worth buying?: Buy it for your gf, or if you're female buy it for yourself, it was pretty good and I'm pretty sure most people will enjoy watching it over and over!

I really enjoyed watching The Holiday on DVD. I saw some of it on cable TV and then wanted to watch the whole thing. I bought the DVD here on eBay and it was a heart warming film about two women who find love, kinda unexpectedly. It's a cute, funny, smart, romantic & witty movie. The U.K and U.S. filming locations are rather picturesque. I'd recommend it for a great time. I'll pop the popcorn. Enjoy!

I typically do not like movies like this but I absolutely loved this. Believe I have watched it five or six times and could watch it another five or six. Fun movie with good characters who play their parts very well.

A must have for any library! This well written story warms the heart. Love can be found in the strangest of ways and places.

I started watching this DVD with no particular interest in it. Within minutes I was hooked and watched it TWICE through back to back.

The characters are wonderful, from the two main female leads down to the old film director who is frightened of going to an event honoring his work. Just lovely, lovely, lovely.

Beautifully filmed, great modern music, and a perfect love story. The Jude Law character and his family are superbly casted.

Don't pass by this movie - it's well worth the 2 hours or so.

I think this movie was cheezy, I adore a good love story, but this one is not
beliveable, I dont care for the fact that everytime something happens no matter what it is Cameron Diaz starts hearing the intro to a movie , as it is her life shes hearing one about,this spoiled what could have been a great movie, I understand she edits advertisements for movies in this film buther character doesnt make this movie real,if you can get past that the rest of the movie is ok.I was highly disapointed

There's just something about this movie......Every once in a while a movie comes along that just makes you feel good every time you see it. You can watch it over and over and enjoy it every time. Before long you are saying the dialog along with the characters. There is something about the combination of music, actors, storyline, and scenery in this movie that always brings a smile to your face. This movie is diffently one of those movies for me. Often times I'll play it while I'm doing other things around the house, a pleasing background sight and sound. Sometimes I'll watch it as I sit and do handwork. And sometimes I concentrate on the movie and maybe have some popcorn. It's enjoyable no matter how it's watched. A quintessential romantic comedy. Everything is pleasing, and of course it has a very happy ending. Love it, love it, love it!

SAW THIS MOVIE WITH A FRIEND...AND KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT FOR MY CHRISTMAS COLLECTION OF MOVIES...I HAVE A HABIT OF WATCHING A MOVIE I LIKE OVER AND OVER..AND THIS ONE WILL BE A FAVOIRTE OF MINE. LOVE ALL THE ACTORS IN THE MOVIE..AND EVEN GOT MY HUSBAND TO WATCH IT WITH ME...

This is one of the greatest movies ever, great actors , great story line, great locations, some scenes make you feel a part of the movie, watched it with my boyfriend he even likes it, you really can watch it over and over and never get bored, not just a holiday movie, I watch it year round.

I love this movie and watch it over and over again. Hard to find a feel good movies anymore, to much hate and feel bad stuff. The Holiday has very nice people, the kind you might want to be friends with and the two little girls are so polite (thats a switch) that you just want to see them again and again.

The Holiday is a feel good movie. It is the type of movie you can watch over and over again to raise your mood. Top of the line actors in good roles. I especially like Jack Black and his musical talents.

I thought this was a sweet romantic movie. Comedy enhanced by Jack Black and Jude Law. The actors were really good and well matched, altho you wouldn't think so. It was an all around entertaining movie. I really liked it a lot.

I love this movie. Has excellent actors and actressess in this movie. I have watched this movie over and over and over again. My daughter asked me if I was tired from watching it so much.
