Hail to the Purple-One

I originally had a 2-disc set of Prince's best; sadly (due to my own stupidity) I loaned it out, and it was never returned. That was about 6-years ago, and I've been looking to replace it ever-since. I was soooo-happy to find it on ebay (from bargainbinscd at an extremely-reasonable price), along with an extra B-sides disc. This 3-disc anthology is a must-have for any Prince fan. I even discovered an unheard-gem on the B-sides disc, entitled "Feel U Up", that is a total hook!
Having come-of-age with Prince's music in the '80's, this set was a welcome-find. I've always felt that Prince's music represented the best of dance-music in it's day. His musical-influences include the late, great, James Brown; and there are many of today's artists (both in rap and R&B), that use samples of Prince and JB in their music. Jazz, mixed with R&B, rap, blues, rock, and electronica/dance; not to mention some killer-symphonic ballads (like the over 8-minute "Purple Rain"), make this artist a hall-of-famer. His vocal stylings and range, not-to-mention his electric-guitar-work, elevates this 50-year-old pop-star into icon status.
Call him Prince, or "a symbol, formerly known-as"; his music has spanned close to 30 memorable-years. The only two ommisions from this set that I really wish were at least on the B-side: are "Hot-Thing" and "Anastasia". I guess you can't have everything, but this set comes very close. I'm satisfied with my purchase, as I'm sure anyone who has ever enjoyed his music will be if they buy this set.
