FANTABULOUS WORK OF ART!!! What an amazing Man...I knew I loved him for a reason!! LOL. He is awesome...to go from abandonment to homelessness, to drugs and alcohol abuse to recovery to quite an outstanding man. What an inspiration to the young people out there today who are in similar situations! Nikki is the best! Can't wait for "THE DIRT" movie and possible "THE HEROIN DIARIES" movie and of course the next CRUE album!! See you in PHILLY NIKKI!

Great book for giving a loved one with drug problem.

This was a book hard to put down and after I read it gave it to a my 24 y/o son that hsd been fighting death, suicide and drug addiction for 6 years but can't read books written by Psychiatris's Drs, Therapists, etc. because he feels that someone who never experienced addiction themselves and learned about it in a school can not really relate to his feelings and motivations. But if more people like Nicki Sixx shared their raw self experiences they could reach many people who feel This book shows there are no boudaries to who can fall into substance abuse whether people are rich, undereducated, ethnic or religions backgrounds, etc. Nikki Sixx has my thanks for writing this book

The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx

Despite being a huge Motley Crue fan, I felt this book was a wonderful look inside the day-to-day life of a full-blown drug addict. What could be more "real" then an actual daily journal from the addict himself!? If your looking for a book that sugar-coats the lifestyle of an addict, this book is not for you! Mr. Sixx leaves nothing to the imagination when describing his thoughts, fears, concerns etc. Right down to his daily hygeine! Anyone who even remotely thinks drugs are glamourous should read this book. Mr. Sixx tells it like it is and allows the reader a detailed insight to just how out of control his life became. I read the book in just two days! As you may have already guessed, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an honest portrayal of just how low a human being can go to feed their addiction.

  What a story........

I bought the book because I was a huge Motley Crue fan in the 80s. I had read "The Dirt" (their biography) and wanted to see 'the other viewpoint.' The story and graphics were very intense (I had a hard time reading it around my 12 year old daughter...too much to try to explain). I liked that Nikki Sixx's daily journal entries were published as is...it seemed. The only complaint about the book was it tended to get a little redundent. But, I guess, when doing the things he did to himself every day was the only things he did, it would be repetative when told in a story. Unbelievable how he was able to even function and perform during that time.... and that's when they were the best!!!

Great story...very intense...a must read for any fan of the 80s hair/metal bands!!!

I must say, I was very impressed with the book, from the artwork to the format to the recounting of someone's darkest days. Started reading the book on a Saturday afternoon and finished reading it on Sunday night. Nothing got done that weekend except lasting memories of a great, great book.

It is an actual diary for the most part and very detailed life of an addict.
I like the message this book eventually sends. Being in recovery myself; this is a must read for any recovering addict alike.

WHAT A ROLLERCOASTER BIOGRAPHY!! I Could NOT put it down! Absolutely the best I've read! Amazing artwork on every page, and I loved the layout with the present day input from bandmembers and family intermingled with the 1987 diary entries. Not your typical rock star bio!

TRUE LIFE, as told by Nikki Sixx

WOW. This is a true view into Nikki's rock & roll life. His words are remarkable, & the fact that he kept these diaries for years is somewhat incredible. Upon finding them, most people would have had a bonfire! But Nikki Sixx puts them out there for us to read, to understand him, & to understand what the life of drugs does to a person, first hand. Quite the read! His additional comments upon his life at the time are so interesting. The entire book kept me captive!

I decided to buy this book because I was curious about Nikki Sixx---I have been a fan of Motley Crue since the 80's and I wanted to know more about his lifestyle. I had just finished reading Slash when I started this book and I have to say that Nikki Sixx had one messed up existence! I am shocked that he is still walking! And to think in the 80's everyone knew rock stars partied but to read about the results of all that mess and the mental and physical tolls that it took on his person was unbelievable. I think that by him sharing this year of experiences maybe he could save someone else. Nikki Sixx should be commended for even making this part of his life public--that takes alot of guts.

Great artwork. Great read. I put in a copy of the Soundtrack, and Girls, Girls, Girls before I lent it to 3 others. Buy this and boycott Donna's upcoming book (letters from Nikki at rehab).

  The Heroin Diaries
Review created: 10/29/09

This was a very good book about the life of a drug addicted rock star. It moved fast but the story was interesting and fast-paced. The illustrations were interesting. The story was true through the addict's eyes and Nikki Sixx pulls no punches. It was good without being real graphic. It just goes to show a person can have all the money & fame in the world and never be happy with themselves.

  Unbelievable
Review created: 05/17/09

I have been a Motley Crue fan for years and a huge fan of Nikki Sixx in particular. I always thought that he had the perfect life. He was living the dream. Wow!! I was amazed at how his life had spiraled out of control. The fact that he was able to function at all is a miracle. I think it was very couragous of him to publish this book about his drug use and everything else that was going on in his life at that time. If anything, I am even a bigger fan now than ever. I couldn't put the book down. It was just completely amazing. I think any fan of the group or Nikki should purchase this book. It is truly amazing that he is still alive and is positive about his life now.

Awesome book- a must-have for any Motley Crue/Sixx:a.m. fan or anyone who has had addiction issues of any sort. It's an open, honest account of one man's life (and death) at the hands of the poison that controlled him, and the miraculous force of human will that saved him.
