The Heavenly Man by Paul Hattaway (2003, Paperback)

It was recommended. It was a great account of a man sold out to Jesus. He faced horrible persecution but prevailed. His life is very encouraging!

This is an encouraging story about the strength of the house churches in China. The God-given stamina of Brother Yun will amaze you. We in the West with our sleeping churches have much to learn.

Recommended by my own son, this life changing story of a modern Christian man and the tremendous challenges he has faced for his Savior is of Biblical proportions as far as value and perspective.
A must read for any one that thinks life is difficult.

Excellent book, inspiring story, It challanged me in my own walk with Christ. I would highly recomment this great book to anyone.

This is a well written account of modern torture and persecution going on in China today. It is also the story of one man's faith and victory over the oppression of the Communists to worship God as a Christian believer. If you think miracles died with the Disciples of Christ or that dying for one's faith is a sacrifice of the past - read this book!

I Loved this book. I had bought it for my husband after a pastor friend of ours told us to get it. When it came I was just looking through the book and the next thing I know I can't put it down. So we are now sharing it which makes it kind of hard when you both want to read it at the same time. What a story and it really helps you see where your faith is with God and where it should be. What a story!! I just bought one for my father-in-law for his birthday and I will be buying many more for others. What a man of God and what God did for him for being so faithful, I would love to have that kind of realtionship with God myself. You'll love this book and like me not be able to put it down!! If I can ever say buy a book besides the bible this is it. I have read many other books about people and their walk with the Lord and they were ok, but this man and what he went through, it is just too powerful to put into words. I am so excited to be able to write this because I want to tell everyone about this book. You will really see the power and wonder of God in this book. Praise God!!!

The book seems unreal until you really read it and look into its background. Miracles today? God doesn't do that anymore does he? Torture in our day and age? That doesn't really happen does it? Read the book to find out what is going on and how God is working in our day. God is alive and well and this book helped me see that in a new way. ~natalie, a cynic much of the time.

This book is an amazing testament to the faithfulness and Agape love that our Heavenly Father has for those who belong to Him! He promises to never leave us or forsake us, and Brother Yun would certainly know this promise far better than many believers who live in the lap of luxury! This book is truly remarkable to see the Holy Spirit moving in China to convict people to give their lives to Christ. The Chinese Church is growing so rapidly in this spiritually oppressed nation. They have no earthly possessions to loose. They go wherever the Lord directs them! AMAZING!!!

This is the most recommened book that I own. This will change you life. You will not be able to put it down, even if you don't like to read books. Buy two and give it away. I bought them for my entire church staff!!! We need a move of God in North America like the one going on in China.
First picking up the book I thought that some of the truths were stretched and that some of the book was made up because of some of the miricles that God did but then I started to understand that if We were to give ourselves to God the way that many of these Chinese brothers and sister do that we would see very similar miricles.
This book will make you feel like you need to have a much deeper faith. You need this, it will change you.

Brother Yun is a New Testament living Christian

I bought this for my husband. He is a Christian US missionary. We have one daughter whom we adopted from China and so China has become a great part of our lives. Reading this book it is sorta like teh book "Jesus in Beijing". He gives you the perception that China is soon to be the world leader and through reaching them through Christ there are many new doors opening!

I bought The Heavenly Man because I am very interested in the truth of what is going on and has been going on in China regarding religious freedom. The Heavenly Man is a true story of a Chinese Christian who has suffered greatly at the hands of the Chinese government because of his faith for many years. This man has the scars to prove the near death beatings of the prison guards. His story needs to be told. The book is well written. I would encourage anyone who is interested in the true story of Chinese Christians to read this book.
