The Greatest Conflict: News From the Front Lines of WWII [Box] by Various Artists (CD, Nov-2005, 20 Discs, Mill Creek Entertainment)

I have found a few good deals on e-bay/u-bid/overstock/buy.com and other places. I can honestly say, this was the best deal I have gotten yet. 20 cds and the quality of all the discs are fantastic. I'm not old enough to be around WWII but I am old enough to appreciate the past history and remember seeing old film clips. Its nice to lay back in bed when I turn in for the night and put in a disc or two and just take myself to another time. Great product.

After looking around for some streams of radio broadcasts from WW2, I came across this title in the "Daily Deal" eBay section. It was priced right, and even if the CD's didn't have all I wanted in terms of detailed news and whatnot (some of the CDs are "period" placeholders to give you a sense of atmosphere), I knew this would be at least a start for my old radio collection. (Having already gotten the famous "War of the Worlds" broadcast with my anniversary copy of the book, I wanted more vintage radio...)

If you're a history buff or you were alive during WW2, this collection provides a really good snapshot of the events and coverage that led up to WW2 as well as the major theaters. There is a "tribute to FDR" that was broadcast shortly after his death on these CDs as well. The CDs themselves are usually one long track or quite a few large tracks, but that doesn't detract from the listening. (If you're handy with an audio editor, you can track them out easily with proper station breaks and the like.... I might try that later myself.) This is a cheap set and at 20 CDs, you won't be bored.

I like the content from recordings in the 1940's. Authentic.

This disk collection not available in local stores. I was pleased to find it on EBAY.

I bought 2 copies of this set for friends who are WWII buffs. They loved them. Besides being a terrific deal, the seller gave exceptional service and lightning shipping.

I was unable to purchase it!!!!! EBAY allowed only paypal payments via one of four CREDIT CARDS !! EBAY allowed those limitations. Yet the seller advertised he accepted all paypal payments. I have good credit with paypal, but mine is a bank account, not credit cards. I bid to buy now, then couldn't pay for it. I contacted the seller and requested his paypal email address so I could send an echeck. He never complied after repeated requests and kept insisting that he could recieve ALL paypal payments. Then he gave me a BAD CREDIT RATING for non-payment. SO, Your system has flaws. How will you correct this one, or will you just fail to do anything? I doubt that anyone reads this!

Can not say anything about it. these turned out to be CD'S, not DVD'S AS I EXPECTED.
they sound good but again i have only listened to a little bit of them.
do not make the mistake i did and think you are ordering dvd's, these are CD'S.

I love these sounds brings me back to the old days listening to the radio.
If you ere a old timer like me who was in the military this will bring you back
to the action. I was on submarines.

Total Crock! I thought these were video footage, instead all audio . MY FAULT! Wont make that mistake again! Not worth much of a review, besides, half of them wont play.

there is nothing like reliving history in your own home..watching a video of years long past..and history in the making..nice to be able to put in a disc, and be able to show your grand children or infact anyone..how it was back in that time.....excellent..

Great History very interesting learned things I never new about the war highly recomended for others to see

"The Greatest Conflict" CDs are entertaining. You get what was promised, radio brodcasts from the WWII era.

I thought it was DVD's as I didn't read the daily deal correctly. Still happy with product in CD format. I think it is a great concept for recreating the radio accounts of WWII.

this boxset has speches of about any point in ww2. they are all speeches and broadcasts from ww2. it is eat and they translate for u. this is a must-have box set for the WW2 lover of any generation
