You become an unofficial enforcer and work you're way up the ranks. The final goal is to take control New York. Along the way, you must deal with rival families, the police, and the FBI.

The extensive map allows you to explore all of New York from the beginning. You can work toward taking control a section at a time (Little Italy, Hell's Kitchen, ect), or take a little bit of every area.

Helpful mobsters give you tips on bribing the police, hijacking trucks, and methods to use. The senior members of the Family will give you missions as your respect level grows.

Some of the graphics are repeated over and over (flower shop, bakery, hotels, cars), but the city is excellently rendered. You can easily get lost or wind up turning the wrong corner and being ambushed on a dead end street if you don't make use of your map.

While the grame draws on the themes of the Grand Theft Auto games (random violence, steal cars, run over people) it is not a copy. The elements it borrows from the game add to the over all game play.

This game is an excellent buy with weeks of game play no matter how good you are at video games.

the game was in excellent condition, but the case and manual had obviously had some kind of liquid spilled on it...not really a big deal. it was received in a timely manner for good price

1940s grand theft auto, its that great!! the only thing i hate, you have to do a lot of money before you can buy a decent gun. (400,000 for a tommy gun).

I like it it took a day to long but it was great just happy I got it and it was pretty low price for the quallity

Its a great game!!! It gives an interesting look at what New York looked like in the early 1900s. The game allows to fully customize your character. It reminds me a lot of "The Getaway", except it is much more fun, because you have a lot more freedom in many ways.

I like this game,it's very exciting and you don't know what to expect.The only thing I don't like is I don't know all the controls yet.

i like action games and i wanted to play it and its not a quick game and i heard a lot about it and i like that u can do differnt things and take cars it like grand theft a little bit

First off, it's pretty cool how you create your own character (kinda like the Sims) and how they fit that character into the CG cut scenes. You don't do the Godfather movie but basicaly kill your way up the Corleone mob family latter on your own with some of the characters from the movie occasionally calling you up to visit them somewhere for a new "job" or a promotion in these cool CG cut scenes with the actual acters. It's a 3rd person shooter/fighter, also need negotiation/intimadation skills to inflict fear into your victims without pissing them off and fighting back. Also pretty cool are the insane car chases that when your in one is rentless but the crashes are spectactular. You also can purchase better levels of your weapons as you earn extortion moneys from your intimated shop keepers store fronts and rackets that you take over one by one, very addicting (ok, I'll go for just one more...next thing you know it's six hours later). You can also rob banks, hi-jack trucks, blow up stores, steal cars, bribe cops, pay off the FBI, and pretty much bitch slap anybody you want (in the game that is, bitch slapping real people is wrong...at least thats what they keep telling me). I'm almost at the end of the game and I still keep finding new things. I highly reccomend this game to anyone especially those who like a free roam world to take your time cause there's lots to do & explore (and kill). ENJOY

The game was in great condition. It was exactly how it was described on eBay. It worked very well and will last a long time. I decided to buy the game because I couldn't find it in the stores. Plus the price on eBay was more affordable when compared to what the game costs in the stores. I would definately recommend this game to those who are interested in playing it. It is very addicting and a lot of fun to play. I hope this review will help you decide to buy it.

My Step Son wanted it for his Birthday, so I found the title he wanted with great ease and at a resonable price

Growing up the youngest and quietest of five children, I've always kind of had to take what I got from the siblings. This game is a hell of a lot of fun for someone who never got the chance to be the badass. The only reservation I have is the number of businesses to take over. Sometimes (but not too often) it gets a little boring putting the squeeze on so many business owners and it does play a lot like Grand Theft Auto. Aside from that, I enjoy the game a lot. I would give it a Good and a Half if that rating were possible.

If you like GTA this games is not for you.It is nothing like Grand Theft Auto. It is however liking to True Crime New York City. I found the graphics very good, the charactors well built and the feel of realism great. However, i found the missions to be very short and extremely diffilcult. Even with the limited cheats available you die way too easy. Overall i find this game un-interesting and would suggest not buying this game unless you enjoy getting upset playing a game. Using one word to describe the three dollars i spent on the Godfather it would be "Overpriced".

You really feel like a ganster in this game, with realistic ganster action as you collect money, enforce your turf, and basically get rid of those who stand in your way. Fun and realistic game play, buy weapons, make your own characters and the outcome is totoally up to you! A+++ gaming.

Great game many challenges and just when you think you got it beat its got a twist I purchased it because I like games with a challenge

This game is outstanding. Some of the actors from the movie voice their characters, including Marlon Brando, James Caan, Robert Duvall, and Abe Vigoda. Very cool. A must-have for any fan of the Godfather movies, even if you're not much of a gamer.

This is the best game that EA has ever put out, in my opinion.
You get to:
1. Extort other mob families businesses.
2. Take down other families warehouses and invade they're turf.
3. Start mob wars where you use strategy and preparation to win.
4. Steal cars, whack other mobsters with unique weapons such as, a shotgun, Tommy gun, a regular pistol, a 38 snub nose pistol, a magnum pistol, bombs, dynamite and a garrote wire to sneak up on people from behind, just to name a few.
5. Blow up other families supply trucks and take the loot.
6. Rise up through the ranks with your family (The Corleones) and eventually become the Don.
All this with an awesome story line that will draw you in deeper every mission you play.

NOTE- For more experienced players the game may seem too short and easy at first. Even if you do beat the game you still have a looooong way to go before truly beating it. (You could beat all the missions but you still have to take down the rival families and extort the businesses before the credits start rolling.)

OVERALL AN OUTSTANDING GAME!

I bought the video game for my grandson. The game played good and my gradson liked it. I didn't care for it, because it was very vulgar, so we had to take it away from him. It would be ok for someone over 20 years of age and if they are into ruff stuff.

Then you will most likely enjoy this game. Its a great mixture and a great blend of Grand Theft Auto style mechanics, graphics, game-play, and the view and grandeur of the 1920's through the 1950s, with a Godfather-esque look and feel to everything.

I'd easily rank this in the Top 25 of the last couple of years of the PS2.

I had always been interested in getting this game, but at 40-50 dollars, it was not in my budget. Then I saw it for sale on EBAY. This game is awesome. The game allows for you to decide what YOU want to do, where YOU want to go. The graphics are great, gameplay and controls are great. The audio is awesome, with scenes from the movie as well as actual audio used in the game! I highly reccomend this game if you like games like GTA: San Andreas, or if you like the movie.

If you liked grand theft auto you'll love this game it's better. You can bribe cops, If you get you wanted level up you can skip town and it goes away. What more could you ask for oh yea you can sneck up on people and choke them to death with a wire totaly silently.
