hard to believe this movie is based off of a true story. Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas are a fantastic pair in this movie. Val Kilmer plays an engineer sent to Africa to build a bridge. He then encounters man eating lions in the work camp that he is working in. He needs to kill these Lions before they scare off all of the workers. This movie is excellent. I'm afraid my review doesn't do it justice. It is a definite must see!
I love that this movie is a true story about these lions. I had heard stories about them as a child and was thrilled to know this movie was made. And what they say is true according to my best friend. If you look into the eyes of the lions even today where they are on display at the Field Museum in Chicago, you will be afraid.
This movie is a classic, I love that is a true story. I decided to buy it because we all enjoyed it when we watched on tv,and decided to have it so we can see it anytime we wanted. Once you watching this movie even if you seeen it before you will be ingross in the movie is like you are watching it for the first time.
The DVD was in GREAT Shape still the wrapper and all. but it took almost 3 weeks to get it to me. I sent two emails with no response. But I got it and it is great. I have looked everywhere for this movie.
loved this movie, not for the squeamish, as it depicts some gory scenes, but lots of val kilmer "eye-candy." Based on a true story, although I was disappointed when I found out Remington was fiction. great scenes of Africa.
I saw these lions in the Field museum in Chicago when I was very little and was fasinated by them. I read the book and then watched the movie and was again fasinated . It is one of my top ten movies of all time.
What i liked about it is that it had no damage and itwas used it was in perfect condition.I would buy from this seller again it was in better condition than i thought it would be in because it was used.
I bought this movie as a Christmas present. It came very quickly and is in very good shape. I've heard from the person whom I gave it to that he is very happy with it and has watched it several times already.
This was a good movie for a good price. I loved the movie and the price of it. I will continue using this website for the movies I love for the bargain prices I love.
Have watched this movie many, many times and never tire of it. Filled with lots of impact, excitement and drama. If you don't like to see a lot of blood in a movie, then this is one is NOT one you would enjoy. In my opinion, Michael Douglas' character, Remington, was one of his finest roles. Val Kilmer's performance of Patterson was also excellently portrayed. I highly recommend seeing this movie!
We enjoy the movie and can watch it over and over again. We wanted it for our library. It's one of our favorite all time movies. We think everyone should see this movie in depth and get the real meaning.
Great movie with Kilmer and Douglas. Great photography and excellent plot. Hard to find at discount prices. Enjoy watching it during the year. Better in movie format rather than on TV with commericals.
This past summer, I went to the Field Museum in Chicago to especially see the King Tuck display, and also went into the rest of the museum to see some of its other displays. In looking around, there was a display about Africa and the two 'huge' tigers who killed hundreds of people. A movie was made about these tigers, and I could have purchased the CD in the museum, but I did not think I wanted to see the movie. But upon arriving home, I decided that I would like to see the movie and I tried to buy it locally, but since it was a movie made a few years ago, I could not find it. So I looked in Ebay and found and purchased the CD reasonably. It is a good movie.
A retired couple, both physicians, are friends of ours. Much of their work was performing medical services in jungle areas. The train in this film, The Lunatic Express, is a real train that runs through Nairobi and Mombassa and actually attacked by lions, as in the film. Our friends wanted the film so they could encorporate their "garden train" and surroundings into the likeness of the train and scenery in the film. They had searched for the film and could not find it...I always go to eBay for great finds, and when I presented it to them, they were so grateful. This film is fabulous, both in acting, (kudos to Kilmer), action, and scenery.
As a teacher of both history and geography at the high school level I have learned that offering students documentary films as a teaching tool has very little impact on students today. The students are the first to admit this. The film "The Ghost and the Darkness" was an effective teaching tool on a number of levels. This true story captivated my audience while teaching them about British colonialism and the arrogance of the British during this period. It also showed them the tensions between the Hindu and Muslim workers brought in as laborers to build the railroad across Kenya. Geographically, the film depicted the hardships created by the landscape and the brutal conditions created by the climate. There are few highschool children who have not seen more brutal violence on TV or in movies than they witnessed in this movie. Some of the more squimish ones did have turn their heads during a few brief moments.
