The Ghost and the Darkness (1998, DVD)

Movie Description
Based on a true story, THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS takes place in Africa during the late 1890s and concerns two ferocious lions who killed 130 railroad construction workers in only two months. A pair of courageous men, no-nonsense engineer John Patterson (Val Kilmer) and rugged hunter Charles Remington (Michael Douglas), set out to shoot the creatures, known as the Ghost and the Darkness. Making their task even harder is the two animals un-lionlike behavior--they kill in tandem, attack in the daylight, and show no fear of anything. Soon the hunters become the hunted....

hard to believe this movie is based off of a true story.
Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas are a fantastic pair in this movie.
Val Kilmer plays an engineer sent to Africa to build a bridge. He then encounters man eating lions in the work camp that he is working in. He needs to kill these Lions before they scare off all of the workers.
This movie is excellent. I'm afraid my review doesn't do it justice. It is a definite must see!

I love that this movie is a true story about these lions. I had heard stories about them as a child and was thrilled to know this movie was made. And what they say is true according to my best friend. If you look into the eyes of the lions even today where they are on display at the Field Museum in Chicago, you will be afraid.

loved this movie, not for the squeamish, as it depicts some gory scenes, but lots of val kilmer "eye-candy." Based on a true story, although I was disappointed when I found out Remington was fiction. great scenes of Africa.
