Report this review After enjoying a live concert by Loggins years ago, I realized that he was more than a singer of fluff ! While my musical interests lay mostly in a bit harder version of rock music, Loggins and his voice has lingered in the recesses of my mind for over 20 years. Realizing that he will continue to record and produce further hits, I "bit" on this Essential Collection because it was, to say the least, a definitive collection and overall picture of his musical career to date. It encompasses his early efforts with Jim Messina, proceeds through his brilliant solo career, and adds the splendid work he's produced for so many movie soundtracks. I can't hear "I'm Alright" from the movie "Caddyshack" without laughing at the hi-jinks there. So if you're a fan of the man or even just someone who recognizes only "You're Mama Don't Dance" or "Return To Pooh Corner", this musical collection is a good bet. There's something here for everyone. Buy it, relax and take a musical trip with many highes and not a low to be found in this collection. Enjoy my friends ! Cons: Just because a song is popular, doesn't make it good there's some truly aromatic cheese here Want to see a magic trick? I've got a good one for you I'll name a movie, you will think of a song , and then I'll tell you the song you thought of sound like fun? OK let's try an easy one first: Footloose Well, that's too easy of course, you're thinking of the title song, aren't you? Let's try something a little tougher Top Gun I'm sensing some confusion, you seem torn you seem to want to pick Berlin's Take My Breath Away, but there is another one Danger Zone is what you are thinking, isn't it? Now, let's try something harder I'm not sure you'll be able to name a song from this film, but we.. Cons: a mid-80's lull, a bit long for the casual fan. Over the course of his thirty year career, Kenny Loggins has been many things. Folkie. King of the soundtrack single. Blue-eyed soul man. frequent collaborator. Autobiographical singer-songwriter. "The Essential Kenny Loggins" is a 2-CD set that contains all of these phases of Loggins' career and much more for an entertaining 2+ hours of music. Kenny began his career as half of the duo of Loggins Review ID: 10000000000573621 Review created: 01/11/03 by: theworm -- a member of Epinions Pros: A great compilation of Kenny Loggins' music from the past 30 years. Cons: Does not include some of my favorites. In my wildest dreams, I never thought that I would ever write an Epinion in the music category. Writing my first movie review gave me a nervous stomach. Writing my first book review practically gave me a case of hives. Music what the heck do I know about music, and how can I possible write a review in music? Well, actually it shouldn t be that hard because I m writing about The Essential Kenny Loggins, a 2 CD set of music by my favorite artist. When this compilation was released I raced to the store to buy it! I didn t care that I had a 10% off coupon at home I couldn t wait a day to own The..
