While preparing his thesis on the deviant Southern California subculture, Dr. Ryan discovered more than he bargained for in his case study subjects, Ron N Scott. During a four month study, Dr. Ryan's subjects revealed themselves as more than stereotypical surfers. These two were not only living on the outskirts of society, they were dancing on its very edge, but three months into his study, it was over. The recording equipment, tapes & papers the doctor had left them to record their thoughts & experiences were all that remained. After poring over the collected data that they had recorded & wrote, Dr. Ryan pieced together a thesis that virtually bled of sheer honesty, humanity & vulgarity. Ron N Scott's tapes & papers have haunted Dr. Ryan & enthralled his own students to the point he has decided to republish portions of his thesis & presents its findings to the rest of us outside academia.
