The Difference Engine
I picked up this "steampunk" fiction title on a recommendation, and I have not been disappointed. The beginning of this novel seemed a bit slow at times, but the story picks up and goes soon enough. There is so much going on in novel that it bears multiple readings to fully appreciate. This is one of the few "Sci-Fi" genre that doesn't dumb-down technical descriptions. The Difference Engine is a conspiracy mystery set in an alternate version of Victorian London. Its a great read for anyone who enjoys Arthur Conan Doyle, Sci-Fi, or subscribers to the steampunk subculture.
