I love this video. I watched it in high school and I cried during the movie. I want my children to watch this video, too. My daughter liked it and she said it was sad.
The movie is excellent.. there is a spot however in the movie that the movie 'sticks' .. so I have to stop and restart it.. so far it is working that way.. the seller told me I can return the DVD for a new one
I have shared this video with my classes through the years, and they (8th graders) always seem to enjoy it. The video is very similar to the play we read, so it goes hand-in-hand with the Anne Frank/Holocaust Unit.
This movie was put out in 1959. It stars Shelley Winters in one of her earlier pieces. I use this movie with my 8th grade students. We read a condensed version of the diary then watch the video to see the diary come to life. There are some very dramatic moments when 30 8th graders sit on the edge of their seats hoping beyond hope the Franks and their guests won't be found out. Any movie that can keep teenagers attentive like that has a huge vote from me!
The movie was as stated. We enjoyed watching it and plan on watching for many more times to come. There was nothing that we disliked about the item. The price was great, the shipping was fast.
Absolutely fantastic highly recommennd to anyone. Very sad though because it is the truth. To think this happened in the 20th century. Gods chosen people have been through so much. You cannot watch this without being reminded of the monstrosities that really happened and how people can be so degraded so easily. I believe we should all watch this movie to remind us how low that humans can get to even persecute poor innocent children.
I decided to search eBay to see if this movie was even available on DVD, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was. I'd read the book a number of years ago, and my daughter has it in her home library, so I knew that we would both enjoy this movie, and I was not disappointed. It is excellent and a must-see, but I would definitely say that it is for older children and adults due to its subject matter.
My husband and I watched it and it was easy to see why it was such highly spoken of in 1958 and afterwards. The acting was superb and we were disappointed that it did not win more Academy Awards; however, it was up against some very stiff competition (Gigi, for example).
If you want an excellent, informative story of Anne Frank and what she and her family and friends went through during the Nazi occupation of Holland, this is it!
I absolutely loved this movie. I remembered watching it in school and it had been so long since I had seen it I decided to purchase a copy of my own. This movie does a superb job of depicting what Anne Frank and her family endured while trying to survive in the Nazi horror. The story line is wonderful and easy to follow. It would be great to introduce to a child wanting to learn about one of the most famous victims of this time or even an adult wanting to remember the struggles and hardships that were faced. Its a wonderful movie that I loved and hope you will too.
I bought this for my almost 13 year old granddaughter who had liked the book. I mentioned I had seen the movie when I was 13. She was very interested and I had NO idea where and if there was a copy anywhere. I tried Half.com, had it shipped to her and she loved it. She was very excited. She didn't give details but talked so excitedly about how she did like it and was so glad I had found it.
