When a neighbor's dog is killed, he decides to track down the real dog-killer. As the events are filtered through the mind of an autistic, they take on their own logic--and are often hilarious. Eventually, by his own eccentric methods, Christopher uncovers truths that are profoundly disturbing, and in the process is forced to extend himself well beyond his usual boundaries. THE CURIOUS INCIDENT is the first work of adult fiction by an acclaimed writer of books for young people. A New York Times Notable Book for 2003.
Publisher's Note Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched. And he detests the color yellow. This improbable story of Christopher’s quest to investigate the suspicious death of a neighborhood dog makes for one of the most captivating, unusual, and widely heralded novels in recent years. Report this review Unfortunately I cannot rate this book at all since I never received it. It was damaged in shipment. I do not hold this against the seller by any means! This was just one of those things that happen! Review ID: 10000000007849979 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 07/04/08 by: It is a fascinating story that reveals very much about Aspergers Syndrome (a high functioning form of autism)and how it's effects can reverberate throughout society from the personal, familial and into the community. I have seen this book classified as humour. In my opinion, while it is engaging and an entertaining read, I hardly consider it comic. The story tells much about our human condition and offers an opportunity for deeper understanding. Review ID: 10000000007807548 Was this review helpful?
