The Cry of Love by Jimi Hendrix (CD, Jan-1988, Reprise)

if you appreciate jimi then you must own this cd!! it's the last one before his untimely death and it shows how far he had grown musically in the short span of his life.

It would had been nice to see what Hendrix might have written after this one. It is true Hendrix sound, a must have for you die hard Hendrix fans.

Very difficult to find on CD. It was Jimi's last work before he died. I have the album but it's worn. Great songs, great memories. Nice to be able to listen to it again. Thanks to eBay for providing a place to purchase it at a very good price.

This is a CDR release with professionally printed booklet. Good CDR but why not buy the real CD's, or the Russian edition of the same title.

These were the songs Jimi had in the works the summer before he died. There is some controversy surrounding how this posthumous recording came to finally reach the public, but the truth is, whether or not it is exactly the way Jimi wanted it may not matter. What does is the fact that this is an incredible collection of songs from a man whose talent may have known no bounds. On a whole this is well produced and compiled, with an ebb and flow that reflects the multi-dimensional character of this man. Were I to pull one song from this selection, it would be "Drifting", a lesser known Hendrix piece that is absolutely beautiful, and worth the price of admission on it's own.
Where would Jimi's music gone had he lived? Here, in "Cry of Love" we have a glimpse of the limitless possibilities.

There is a duality of emotions at work here. The music is undeniably Hendrix at his best. These are songs played extremely well without the previous studio reverse mixing and effects so prevalent on the first three of Jimi's records.
The second feeling is overwhelming sadness at the loss of any new Jimi Hendrix music. This was his last record, released shortly after his death.
Although he has been gone for over thirty years. His passing will forever represent a painful place in my life.
I was lucky enough to see him perform live in concert nearly one month before he died. I will remember that forever!
