The Core (DVD, 2003, Widescreen)

I saw the first third of this movie while working as a substitute at the local high school. It grabbed my interest and feeds right in to all we are hearing with the effects of green house emissions. So on my return home I rushed to ebay to purchase a copy. My copy came packaged only in an envelope with no shipping protection even though I paid for packaging anf it was cracked so I never got to see the end.

The Core takes man's perceived disdain to heart, the heart of the planet Earth that is. It seems that there are major unnatural "natural" disasters happening in the world, all caused by the effects of the core of the earth having stopped its spinning. This movie does a good job of balancing scientific principles and good old science fiction with great Hollywood special effects. Hillary Swank once again shows her acting abilities, as well as Aaron Eckhart playing a modest genius scientist who finds himself at the center of a massive problem with no easy solution. Always cool when the scientists are the ones who actually go and do the dirty work, unlike some other disaster-adventure movies of this same time. Overall a great movie and a good time.

If you don't think about it too much, and throw everything you ever learned about science out the window, then "The Core" is a really good disaster movie. The core of the Earth has stopped turning, and it is up to a group of scientist (the usual suspects) to go into the center of the Earth and detonate several nuclear bombs in order to "jump start the core". It's nuts, I know. But if you just go with it, it's an entertaining two hours. The cast is Aaron Eckhart, Hilary Swank, Delroy Lindo (those are the memorable ones). The shinning star is Christopher Shyer, a Frenchman who puts saving the world into a manageable perspective with a very nice speech about why he's going. The special effects dominate the movie, but that is to be expected. All in all, I liked it, and I am pretty sure you will too.

Overall the graphics are great and it is fun. :)

I first rented this at blockbusters and have been looking to purchase it ever since was unable to locate it anywhere I found it here it is in excellent condition and I enjoy watching it now often thank you

DON"T leave your house!! Just put the movie in you want to see and pay a GREAT price for it. It will come in a few days most in GREAT condition. Spend no money on gas or late fees...

Fairly good Sci-fi. Worth watching once or twice. Unexpected ending with some good perfomances by the main cast of actors.

I dont really kno wat to write here all i can say is i really like these type of movie when the planets at risk and we have to find someway to save it all around its a really good movie fits nicely with my collection

This movie was more painfull to watch then a neighbor kids soccer match. The box tells us Jeffery K. Howard ABC News calls this a "Must See Movie" Who in the hell is Jeffery K and I want some of what he's been smoking. Save your money as for me? I bought it for a penny and I still feel duped.

If you like Sci-Fi/save the world kind of movies this is a great one. Great actors and storyline kept me interested the whole time. It was an "on the edge of your seat" kind of movie during most of it.

ON the suggestion of my wife, I purchased this movie. It was very good. a lot of action and twists. Thinking man's (and woman's) movie.

Although the movie was entertaining there was a "bad" area on the DVD. It is not noticeable on the surface of the DVD but when playing the movie it skipped about 10 minutes. Used DVDs are a risk.
