The recipes are over and above any ordinary box cake recipes. Ms. Byrn turns each one into a masterpiece with very little effort! I have made so many of the desserts and have given them out and people tell me I shouldn't have gone through the trouble of making cake from scratch. This is high praise and I have to agree...with a little extra effort folks will think you are the best baker. What I like is that you can tweak the recipes to your taste and they still come out delicious! Not just your mama's boxed cake mix. I have made quite a few from the book and some of my favorites are the Cannoli Cake, Toffee Crunch Cheesecake, Honey Bun Cake, Apricot Nectar Cake, Milk Chocolate Pound Cake and the Deeply Chocolate Almond Cake with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting.

When all my cookbooks flooded in Katrina, I set about the task of replacing the ones I really depended on. The Cake Mix Doctor was surely on my replacement list. The book contains a wealth of dessert recipes, all made from a cake mix. The index also lists cake recipes by type of mix, so when you're in a hurry, you can find a dessert to bake based on the mix that you have in the pantry. The beginning of the book features small pictures of the more than 150 finished cakes, and the page number is included underneath the picture so you can quickly find the recipe. The next section features helpful information about different types of mixes, ingredients, equipment and techniques. Another helpful feature of this book is the "hints" that are placed throughout the chapters. Topics such as "Bake Sale Tips," "Freezing Unfrosted Cakes" and "Baking Cakes in Quantity" all make this book an invaluable resource for the informed cook. Try the Almond Cream Cheese Pound Cake- it's a winner!

I do a lot of baking. Sometimes, I am in a hurry and can't create a desert from scratch. This book is the perfect solution. Friends and family don't know that what they are eating is from a cake mix. Add a little of this, a little of that, of course some LOVE and they eat it up. If you bake and are under the gun with your time, this book is a must have.

So many recipies I didn't know where to start. I love how you can take a simple yellow or white cake and turn it into so many different cakes. It's a wonderful book!

This Book is just great to make a Cake taste like it was made from scratch. I never realized that Cake Mix recipes really existed as I was never into making cakes until this past year.
My Favorite Recipe in this Book has to be Tomato Spice Cake Recipe with Cinnamin Butter Cream. People are shocked that the cake is made with Tomato Soup and the Butter Cream Icing is what really makes this cake!
I have made many recipes from this Book and I recommend this Book 100 Percent!

I bought this as a gift for my friend, then bought one for myself. The recipes turn ordinary cake mixes into delectable treats with ease, by adding just a few ingredients. My friend was thrilled with this book and uses it constantly, telling me how wonderful it is and how delicious the cakes are. She thanks me on a regular basis. I would definitley recommend this book to anyone who hates the hassle of baking, but loves that "homemade" taste. Great investment to my cookbook collection.

An excellant use of cake mix to make it seem like cakes from scratch.
The reason I wanted the book is because I had one that I gave to my daughter, and I had been unable to find another one just like it. There are newer ones on the market, but I wanted one just like the one I had because of the recipts that I had marked and used.

This large book has tons of easy recipes to make lucious desserts with store bought cake mixes. Color pictures on each page show the finished product. The recipes require few ingredients and have simple instructions. This is a great book for making unique desserts for parties, bake sales, entertaining or family treats. Great book for the Susie Homemaker in your family!!

When I won my bid for my book I was on cloud nine, This is a must have book if you love to make easy master pieces.
I have made so many fast and simple recipes from this book.
It is a bakers dream come true.
It was quite costly to order when the company was trying to sell it through the mail,I thought I could buy it on Ebay for less than half the price,and I did.

My 4 year old grandson fell in love with this book at the library so I bought it for him along with his own kitchenware. I took time to look through the book and will have him bring it with him when he comes to visit so we can make some of these great recipes together.
Simple enough for a 4 year old to follow, yummy enough to entice adults as if the word "chocolate" isn't enough!
