The Best of Badfinger by Badfinger (CD, Apr-1995, Capitol/EMI Records)

It is a good cd. I really like music by Badfinger. It is a good one for my collection. I like a few of the songs on the cd. Not sure if i would buy another one or not.

This is a 21-track collection of songs that Badfinger recorded for The Beatles' Apple Records label between 1969 and 1973. Most people will find Come And Get It : THE BEST OF BADFINGER to be the definitive Badfinger album and a perfect introduction to their bittersweet Beatlesesque power pop. The collection features all four of the English band's early seventies hits - "Come and Get It", "No Matter What", "Day After Day" and "Baby Blue", plus the earthy original version of "Without You," a song written by Badfinger's Pete Ham and Tom Evans and later became a massive hit for both Harry Nilsson and Mariah Carey. Although the compilation tends to focus on the band's melodic side and provides little evidence of the high-energy rock sound that was an equally important component of the band's sound, Come And Get It is a highly enjoyable, well-annotated album that provides ample evidence as to why this band has retained such a persistent and devoted cult following. A well-chosen 21-track best-of, wisely emphasizing their melodic, tender side rather than their oft-pedestrian hard rockers, Come And Get It draws from all four of their late-'60s and early-'70s Apple albums, although the absence of "We're For The Dark" from No Dice is a significant omission. Nonetheless, what you have here is a remarkable collection of songs from one of the most underrated and underappreciated British rock bands of the early 70s. It is interesting to note that Badfinger actually recorded for and performed with all 4 solo members of The Beatles on various projects. This album provides the key elements to that outstanding legacy.
