I always had a hard time getting my 8 year old son to read consistently, but the Captain Underpants books did the trick. He sit's down and can't stop reading until he is done with the whole book in one sitting. His reading interest has jumped incredibly. Don't let the title fool you, these are terrific books for young boy's to start reading.
I love these books, because my boys look forward to reading. They really enjoy the books and asked if Dav Pilkey would put out some more books. I have not had this kind of enthusiasm from my boys to read, for that all parents should love these books. Thanks!
What I like best is this book is interesting to my son who struggles to read. (It is hard to find books he will sit down and read. He would rather be OUTSIDE)!It is a funny book that takes a lighter side to life. What I dislike is it does not always use proper english and can be kind of naughty! If your child understands the difference between a book and actual life that should not be a problem! Overall, My child wants to read and that is so important to me! Therefor, We will continue to read them. :)
As a parent to a 3rd grade child who hated to read until he picked up this book, I would say this collection of books "Captain Underpants" is priceless!
My son loves these books. My 8 year old son is very active and if these books get him to chill awhile I am all for it. I am a mother of 4 children and my 14,12, and of course my 8 year old love these books. My 8 year old even reads it to his 2 year old brother.
My grandson is going into 4th grade in Sept. and he loves to read and he mentioned he liked this series of books so I found the whole set on e-bay and they are great books. I gave them to him as a surprise for getting good grades on his report card. This set of books is very popular with the 3rd. and 4th. grade readers. Don't be fooled by the title. They are fun books.
As a teacher, I don't really like the content of the books, but my kids do find these books entertaining and they actually READ them. Sometimes it is difficult to get them to read anything! The cartoon portions also inspire my students to draw and write their own comics.
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY THIS BOOK FOR YOUR CHILD!
How are Captain UnderPants and Prfessor PoopyPants supose to teach are children? What are our children learning from these "ROLE MODELS"? More so how is this author in our schools and not Mark Twain, or Harriet Beecher Stowe.
I took my girllfriends daughter to her bookfair at school and seen the posters advertising Captain Underpants. She is 7. If my father seen that crap in my school back in the day he would have been talking to the principal at a town meeting.
So let me get this right, we take a respected title like "Captain", then turn it into a character that does not know how to dress himself properly and then use that as a good example to teach kids.
Parents that buy this should be ashamed of themselves. What happened to people speaking up for the content thier children read. People wonder why parents more and more are pulling thier kids out of public schools and putting them in private schools.
This is a fun book for young boys to read. Funny pictures. Story line is not great, but the kids really don't care. Make sure to read the rest of the books in the series!!
Humorous book about a silly superhero created by elementary school kids. This is a great book to get kids between the ages 7-11 to enjoy reading. This is an easy to read chapter book. Includes hilarious pictures on each page!
