Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Scientific Calculator

Through my high school years, this calculator really helped cut down the time on solving complex equations. Graphing is more precise on this device and it the font is cleaner as well. Gaming on this calculator is a WHOLE LOT BETTER than the 83's/84's. (Although if you’re a student you shouldn’t be gaming.. hrm hrm..)

This calculator is a little tricky to use. I never opened the manual myself and was able to figure out how to work this thing. All my buddies use this in their math class. I am currently a major in automotive technology, this calculator helped me found all the calculations I needed. The 3d graphing feature is by far the greatest feature for someone in my major.

For people who are going to be taking the SAT's.. WOW this thing will cut down times literally in half. (Learn to use it first) This thing is by far the best investment I have made.

I like the calculator because it in very good condition, and the low price. However, I don't like that it doesn't come with data line and instruction book.

This calculator does it all, and does it all so easily. Getting used to the calculator is a five minute process, if that. Everything is easily understandable and the operating system is flawless. Everything was heavily thought about before it was installed in the final product of this calculator. I can't believe I went through so many years without this calculator!

We bought this for our child's education, supposedly they need calculator for the advanced math in high school.
We like the fact it's the best in the class and priced just a bit higher than the next in line for featured function.
We don't like it because it take awhile for anyone to ge familiar with all the bottons and keys.
Most the kids in the math or graphing classes might not need all the bells and whistles in this calculator. It's not the question for the value, but you really should have your child try it out for usage before purchasing.
Overall, we're very happy with the purchase.

My daughter is taking Calculus next year in high school and (of course) the teacher required the students to have the TI-89 calculator. I was not exactly pleased that I would have to purchase yet another calculator since we already purchased the TI-83 and TI-84 for previous math courses.

The calculator is a very cool piece of technology. It works beautifully and will (I hope) be useful for my daughter through her college years. It has many other features that you download easily from the Internet to do other types of functions, such as finances, statistics, and an organizer (to name a few). I also found out that it has AP Calculus test questions pre-loaded on it, which will be useful at the end of this school year.

Even though I really didn't want to purchase yet another calculator, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. This calculator functions more like a mini-computer, and with the Internet interface, my daughter will be able to use this for any engineering, math or science class in college.

I decided to buy it, because the pricing and the seller's rating. I am a little disappoint on the shipping speed throught.

This calculator rocks bar none. It has all the features of the TI-84 although the layout is not as straight forward as the TI-84 (you might actually have to crack open the manual to figure out how to use it properly), but it makes up for it by offering almost DOUBLE the Memory and some very useful Apps. This is strictly a college level calculator (most specifically for engineering) with tons of useful Engineering oriented applications. It can also perform advanced calculus operations with a few keystrokes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for Engineering & Science Majors. if your still in high school (or non-engineering/science major in college) I would recommend getting a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition instead since it is more high school oriented than the TI-89 Titanium (which doesn't have as many cool GAMES and personalization options available). Bottom line is the TI-89 Titanium is a more grown-up version of the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, that leaves behind some of it's High School attributes in favor of more college/professional applications. As an engineering student I highly recommend it to both students and professionals alike. If you are shopping for a college level calculator with everything you could possibly need, look no further.

The calculator was exactly as decribed by the seller and arrived promptly. It is complicated to use so I purchased "for dummies" book. The calculator is required for a class.

Of course it helps that I received an awesome product from the seller, but this calc is simply awesome. I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you are planning on taking more than a couple math based courses. You must be willing to learn how to use it to get the full potential, but along the way you will also get more out of your classwork. I would highly recommend grabbing the TI 89 for dummies ebook, it is a cinch to follow along and within a few days, I was graphing and learning how to manage data with it. Even if you are not doing advanced calculations, you will find the calculators ability to keep track of your work and reuse answers and formulas very handy. Overall I highly recommend to any potential buyer.

I am a student, and I love this calculator. Very complex, but quickly catches on. In addition, there's a tutorial CD inside and all connectivity. I'd recommend this product to any college student taking more than just Calculus.

Good for pre-med students like myself. So far no professors have forbid the calculator to be used, and it is fun and handy for homework and other nerdy pleasures.

If your school or institution allows you to use it, I would definitely recommend you opt for the TI-89 titanium. It is a great product; easy to use and comes with a very clear instruction manual that is also available online. This calculator comes with many functions (calculus, symbolic algebra) that many of the other models do not. If you are buying a graphing calculator, I would highly recommend the TI-89 titanium. Make sure you're allowed to use it first.

This is a great calculator, but unlike it's predecessors... TI-82/83/84. The functions are slightly different. It's like learning a whole new programming language. But once you get the hang of it, it's an outstanding powerful calculator that's able to manipulate algebraic/trig/calculus functions to the user's want. I would recommend this calculator for students who have already complete college level algebra, other wise it's ability to solve equations won't do you justice in the long run, unless you just want to get a easy A in math a move on with your life :)
