  Great Calculator
Review created: 09/01/06

I bought 2 of these actually, the first cause i needed a calculator, the second because my first one got stolen. That should say two things, one that it is good enough to be stolen, and two that it is good enough for me to buy a second one.

For the money, this calculator is a great deal. It has plenty of memory, great screen clarity, great battery life, and the controls are fairly easy to get used to.

There are plenty of games you can find to add to the calculator, also its data cable is a simple mini-usb cable so if it doesn't come with one, or you loose it, its very easy to replace.

This calculator has almost 8 times the memory that the TI-83 has which means you can store more games, apps, and files on this calculator then the previous TI-83.
The TI-84 plus has great screen clarity, its very easy to read during low light situations and outdoor light situations.

Texas Instruments is the most popular brand of graphing calculators currently out there which means that you can transfer files between pers easily, and you can figure out problems easier than if you had a no name brand.

All in all, the TI-84 is a brilliant addition to the Texas Instuments Graphing Calculator family, and a worthwhile tool to anybody in school or work.

Hope it helps!

  Excellent calculator !

This calculator is identical to the TI-84 Plus except that this "Silver" model has additional memory. It has the same functions as the TI-84 Plus. This model is excellent for all math up to and including all high school math, plus some college calculus. For most people, this calculator will suffice through college. Only more advanced engineers, scientists and financial experts would need something more.

In addition, this calculator is approved for use on most aptitude tests including SAT and AP mathematics.

I tutor high school mathematics, algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus and, while the TI-83 is adequate for anyone, I recommend that, if you can afford it, spend a few extra dollars and get the TI-84 Plus Silver.

Consult with the TI web site ( http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/nonProductSingle/graphing_course_comparision.html ) to see which of the "high school" calculators (TI-83 Plus, TI-84 Plus, TI-84 Plus Silver, TI-89 Titanium, TI-Nspire) is right for your child's education level and your budget. For all high schoolers, I recommend the TI-83 Plus as a minimum.

  Ti 84 Plus Graphing Calculator

This is a terrific calculator for students in high school and college. The 84 Plus model mirrors the keystrokes of the Ti 83 plus, but offers more memory and does offers more functions. There is enough power for high school students and it will also handle calculus. This calculator is allowed on the ACT and SAT, so it is a great idea to learn all of the powerful uses offered. (If you have a future engineering or advanced math student try looking at the Ti 89 Titanium, just know that it is not allowed for the ACT and is not typically used in high school.) Parents, matching the model to the instructor recommendations is super important, or else it will be difficult for your student to follow the keystrokes in class. If you are taking a math class be sure to check with the instructor before purchasing the model! Free apps may be found at the Texas Instrument website along with other support material. You may also download the user guide for free from the TI site, so no need to pay extra on ebay. This should come with a cable to download apps with, but if not it is a standard usb port on one end and the other is common to small gadgets like phones and easily purchased everywhere for less than $10. Be sure to confirm with your seller that there is no dead pixals, a total bummer for a graphing calculator. I highly recommend this model!

  Outstanding Graphing Calculator.

I love the Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus. It has a very large
display and large buttons that are easy to use. TI-84 Plus has
a usb adaptor that makes downloading programs, solutions, and new
software very easy. I would recommend the TI-84 Plus over the regular
TI-84 or TI-83 because of its upgraded graphing, plotting and user
friendly controls. The TI-84 Plus is an outstanding Graphing Calculator
that is very user friendly. It is a great buy.

This calculator is great for the classroom! It is able to work for almost any subject including chemistry, biology, physics, and some other math and science related classes. It is able to hook up to a projecter for easy explanation on graphs, it also connects to the computer to upload new applications for different subjects so you are never left behind! You can also buy the attachment cord so that you can link yourself to other calculators and upload their info or download yours! It is user friendly also. By buying this you can also connect to the texas insturments site and get help on any subject or help with almost anything in their interactive classrooms. The calculator TI-84 is the last or highest model that is allowed on the ACT's so it is acceptable to use that! But you don't have to be left out of the dust there, you can also customize it with diferent colored face plates so that your calculator has your personal touch to it! This is a great buy and I definately recommend it to everyone, just another great product from Texas Instruments! I bought this to help me in my chem class and it has helped me considerably, due to the downloadable apps for it and if the main site doesn't have what you need you can prgram it yourself so your never left in the dark!!!

TI 84 Silver Edition Graphing Calculator
Review created: 06/12/08

I have used all the TI graphing products and I love the built in applications that are provided on the TI 84 Silver Edition. I am a high school math teacher and purchased a few of these calculators to be used in my math classes. I also like the option to remove the face plate in order to customize the color of the calculator-I use this to easily spot my calculator in the classroom. This calculator is easy to use-especially if you have been using the TI 83 or 85. Although I love the TI89 calculator-the math functions are in completely different places than on the TI83-86 calculators and it is easier to teach students with similar features. Even if you are a calculus student, you can definitely purchase a cheaper calculator such as the TI 83 Plus and it has all the required features you will need for the AP exam. The only thing the TI 84 has is the preloaded applications (which arent used for Calculus or other classes) and the removable faceplate (personal preference).

The Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphic Calculator or The Texas Instruments TI-84 Silver Edition Graphic Calculator are both wonderful calculators. They are upgradable and can be useful through the college years. The price can be steep. However, I've several sold for reasonable prices on Ebay. They come with many different programs preloaded and TI's website have many different programs that may meet a specific need. They are well built and can withstand the occasional accidental knock off the desk.

Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus graphing Calculator
Review created: 09/03/09

This calculator is a highly specialized graphing calculator designed for the college student. It performs many advanced functions. It is excellent for math, science, & business classes. The TI-84 makes work a lot easier for students, because it has a USB connector. This enables students to transfer their work to a computer screen and print it, rather than write everything out by hand. It is a very wise investment for a new college student. Texas Instruments has been making these calculators for a very long time. They can be pricey if bought in college bookstores, but they can also be found reasonably priced at Wal-Mart, or even on the internet.

Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphic Calculator
Review created: 08/26/09

I have bought Texas Instruments Graphic Calculators for the past 8 years. Every other year I wind up buying another graphic calculator with the hope of using it for the next 4 or 5 years but it never happens. My daughter had to have another graphic calculator for her math classes she had to have the pink one (TI 84 plus). I thought the NSpire was a better product but she wanted the pink calculator. So pink is a good selling point.

Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator
Review created: 09/06/08

The TI-84 Graphing Calculator is the standard graphing calculator expected of high school and college students. Although it comes short of the TI-89 in many features, it's overall a great piece of equipment though a little overpriced.

You might get a better deal for your dollar buy purchasing a calculator from one of the other competing brands (such as Casio), but because they are not widely used you will have some compatibility issues with your teacher or professor, who most likely knows only how to teach you to use Texas Instrument's TI-series of calculators. Of course, this can all be solved by reading the manual, but calculator manuals are 100+ pages and not very interesting reads.

Laid, '80s age screens give this calculator an old-school look but the exterior asthetic design is much more modern. Much better than the design of the TI-83.

The differences between the TI-84 plus and TI-84 [regular] are minimal, only increased performance (hardly noticeable) and a slightly greater compatibility with newer apps (useless if you do not download applications from the internet) allow you to tell the two apart.

Both are compatible with the TI-83 and have similar [if not exactly identical] keystrokes for functions.

As far as graphic calculators go, this Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphic Calculator works good. The color-pink-was good, also. My child loves pink items and so this is what she wanted. The only thing I didn't like about it was, that it did not come with a case. I had to buy a separate case for it. I think for the price it was, a case should have been included.

  Excellent calculator.
Review created: 01/23/08

The TI-84 Plus Silver Edition is an excellent calculator. Most schools use the Texas Instruments (TI) calculators, and much of their curriculum is built around their functionality. The TI-84 Plus Silver Edition is an updated version of the older but still very functional TI-83. If you are not going to be writing programs or applications, then there is no real need for the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, go with the TI-84 (not the silver ed.) or the TI-83. I am a programmer and I wanted to download some math applications to run on the TI-84. On a vanity note, the TI-84 Silver ed. has replaceable colored face plates and covers. They even make stick-on graphics to further personalize the calculator.

TI-84 Plus is the BEST Graphing Calculator!
Review created: 10/05/09

The new TI-84 Plus is a wonderful calculator. If anybody has had the TI-83 or 83 Plus, they know how easy and reliable it is. The 84 Plus is an all-around improvement on the older version and even worth the additional $15-$20. I have had it since school started and have noticed than any problem I enter, it is solved immediately upon pressing enter, or solve. The speed is a great improvement over the 83-Plus. The computer features are nice, but rarely used by myself. For anybody who is supposed to buy a TI series calculator for school, the 84 Plus us definitely the one to pick up this year and for the next few years I assume. Easy, fast, reliable, durable, and even sleek. As long as you handle it properly and use it enough, you will get all of your $110 out of the TI-84 Plus.

  TI-84 Graphics Calculator
Review created: 05/28/09

I needed the TI-83 for an Open University course, so after searching EBay for one as the new price was quite high, I saw an advert for the TI-84 which is basically the same as the TI-83 but essentially has a faster processor speed and offers more although at a much higher price.
So a used model was sought and for not a lot more than a TI-83 would have cost I bought one from America, it is everything it says it is and probably the best graphic calculator in the world.
Check out the Texas Instruments website for full specifications.

This graphic calculator is exactly what my son needed for his math class, while costing a lot less than a new one. Great condition and has all the features he needs for this class and future classes. Texas instruments calculators have always, from our families experience, held up well and are designed for relatively easy use.

  The TI-84 Plus
Review created: 02/13/09

This calculator is one of the most recommended calculators of the education system in the US. It has a little bit more memory that the TI-83 plus and it has about 2-3 more programs than the latter. I highly suggest people to buy this calculator since it will be the last calculator you may need to purchase even for college.

  SMART CALCULATOR
Review created: 10/09/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This calculator is ingenius. I am using it for my Calculus II class and it is a lifesaver. The functions and the graphing abilities are exceptional. The calculator is very easy to use, the buttons make the calculator almost
self-explanatory. I am a chemical engineering major, and this calculator will be all I will ever need in my math class and engineering classes. It has the ability to split the screen into four quadrants, showing you the graph, the equation, the parameters, and trace values, if you want to get that detailed. This calculator has a TON of memory and comes with an instuctional CD as well as a USB port and a cable should you want to download/upload data to another calculator or even to your PC!!

What I don't like about the calculator is that the pixels are large, and when you are trying to trace an X or Y value on a graph, it is difficult to get the exact point you want. Even changing the X and Y parameters don't help. But large pixels are a problem with EVERY calculator I have used
(TI-83, TI-85, etc). The pixel problem is not exclusive to the TI-84 Silver. Also the user manual is not easy to use. You really have to dig deeply to get what you are looking for.

Overall I love this calculator and I wouldn't trade it for a million dollars. If you are a math major, engineering major, or need a calculator to help with complex and difficult equations and graphing purposes, I highly recommend this calculator. I would not use anything but the TI-84 Silver. I got this calculator on Ebay at $50.00 less than what it would have cost me at any major electronics store. A++++

Pink is in - yellow is not!

I am a math teacher. The TI-84 plus graphic calculator is a must in high school math. I picked the pink one because it is easy to find with a classroom full of students who are using yellow or black calculators.

Remember when buying a calculator online. YELLOW calculators are sold to educational institutes only. If you see one being sold on ebay, it was probably stolen from a school.

What you need to know when buying a used TI 84
Review created: 06/29/08

These have turned out to be a great decission by Texas Instruments. It would seem hard to upgrade the reliable TI 83 plus, but they've done it.

Things you should know before bidding or buying a TI 84.
1. The manual can be downloaded for free from Texas Instruments. You do not need to buy the paper or CD manual.
2. Be sure to get the USB and calculator to calculator cables. These are invaluable. You can download fun and useful programs from online or share with other calculators. They are also a great tool to upgrade and trouble shoot your calculator.
3. Avoid calculators with any scratches or pressure marks (dark spots) on the screen. These are a sign of a poorly maintained calculator. They also usually get worse with time.

i bought this calc for my junior year of highschool and it has worked great for my pre-calc class and my ACT tests. it has so many options that are easy to use. i grew up on the ti 83 plus and this is so similar that i opened the package and used it right then without reading the whole instruction manual. it has a finance program under the applications to do the exact same thing as a regular finance calc, and so much more. great calculator, tons of programs, easy to use, very good quality! buy this claculator.

I've had this calculator for over a year now and it has never failed me. Texas Instruments does a great job with all of their calculators. The TI-84 is personalizable as well with optional faceplates. My son is using it for his high school classes right now. It has much more memory space than the previous calculators and can become an organizer as well. It is also great for that interminable study hall with its many games it can hold. I think it is a necessity for at-home or at-school use, especially at home. Unless you want your child to struggle quite a bit while solving linear equations when the calculator can do it for him or her quicker or just to check their answers, I recommend buying this for you or your child. You never know what it can be used for and can be upgraded. It will definitely come in handy.

TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphing Calculator
Review created: 10/22/06

A great calculator for high school mathematics. Better than the 83+ because of improved functionality, better speed, better memory, etc. Comes pre-loaded with more software than most users will ever need. I recommend anyone who will be using this on a standardized test (SAT, Regents, etc.) get the calculator some time before the actual test, so they can get accustomed to using it. Once you know your way around, it's a real help. Serious users should be familiar with the manufacturer website -- education.ti.com -- for help and suggestions.

Lives up to the Texas Instrument brand name :)
Review created: 06/04/10

The last time I bought a graphing calculator was .. 10th grade.. that was.. 1994?? That was the TI-82 .. and when it came out, it was the powerhouse of the market.

From this purchase, I can see why Texas Instruments has survived and thrived with all the techy additions available on this model - I would have bought the Silver Edition, but only a TI-83 or TI-84 was allowed for the course in which I'm currently enrolled.

It took me a while to figure out where some things were.. particularly since my instruction book is all messed up - pgs 4 - 8 were missing, but pages 9 - 13 were duplicated. Once I started playing around with it, I quickly developed a sense of familiarity with its more common functions - it was pretty easy to pick up on as it is modeled very similarly to the one I had 16 years ago.

Anyway, all in all it's an awesome calculator & a must have for higher level math (precalculus and higher). And I got a GREAT deal.. it's widely available from mass merchants, as well as here on eBay, so it's easy to shop around for a good price :)

I'm totally thrilled with my purchase :) - and oh so glad it got here in time for the higher level functions portion of the course :)
