Terminal Freeze by Lincoln Child (2009, Hardcover)

A group of scientist accidentally find a new species trapped in the ice for 10,000 years in a taboo mountain (Glacier) and return to Fear Base a closed down early warning base from the cold war. The team notifies its banker a documenarty film company who send a crew. Accidents happen and "The Thing" thaws. Chase in the base, death and gore just like Frank Carpenter's movie a chase and an answer for a solution to kill it before it destroys all life on the base. I liked this book quite a bit. It reminded me of The Relic in many ways and I hope that Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston decide to return to this type of story as well.

As far as Terminal Freeze goes I enjoyed it alot. The Charachters were fun and there were plenty of surprises. Each time I finished a chapter I couldnt wait to read the next!

This book was another thrill a minute by a most excellent author. I have all the other books written by him and have loved them all. I recommend this to all.

Terminal Freeze is the latest novel by Lincoln Child, who typically co-authors Archaeological Thrillers with Douglas Preston.

In this novel, a team of Scientists discovers a new species in an Arctic region where any life is a mystery. For reasons not explained without superstition, a once thriving military base was abandoned and left to a skeleton crew. Now, with the new discovery, a full court media event comes to life.

What makes this a good book is Child's ability to draw out the suspense, give occassional plot twists, in some of his novels more than others.

I highly recommend his novel Deep Storm.

Scientist are collecting samples as fast as possible to find what the ego system was like millions of years ago. They find an ice cave with a creature frozen below the ice all that can be seen are large amber eyes. What is this creature? When did it live where did it come from how did it get there? A movie company is paying for the scientist to be at this military base location and decides it wants the creature. They want to thaw it capture the whole thing on film. They soon find they are getting more than they bargain for! This is a fast paced page turning novel well researched information well written. It is mankind at it's best, worse, and shows that some people value their career above anyone and anything. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Book was an excellent read! Mr. Child deliver's another knock out selection and I cannot wait until his next book.
