I LOVED TOM HANKS IN FORREST GUMP. BUT LATELY, THE MOVIES HE IS DOING ARE...WELL, OFF. HE WAS OK IN IT, BUT JUST OK. THE REST OF THE CAST, EVEN WORSE. I DIDN'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF THEM OR WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM, I JUST WANTED THE MOVIE TO BE OVER. THE STORYLINE(S) WERE NOT AS CREATIVE AS THEY COULD HAVE BEEN AND THE WRITING WAS DOWNRIGHT BORING. I GUESS THE TITLE FITS THOUGH, CAUSE WHEN IT WAS OVER, I FELT TERMINAL.

Viktor Navorksi (Tom Hanks) falls into a bureaucratic crack in the system when his plane lands at New York's JFK airport from the fictitious country of Krakozhia. Unbeknownst to Navorski, his country fell prey to a military coup while he was in flight, causing it to be wiped from the map. This effectively renders his passport null and void, meaning he cannot legally enter America, nor return to his now nonexistent home. Barely able to speak English, the hapless Navorski is offered a sanctuary of sorts by kindly staff who allow him to freely inhabit the airport. With little money to his name, Navorski has to quickly shed his feelings of displacement, confusion, and alienation to survive. Fortunately he has a resourceful nature, and makes a meager amount of money for food by returning baggage carts. As time passes he becomes more comfortable with his surroundings, even finding time to pursue a passing stewardess, Amelia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), who has captured his heart. But airport denizens such as customs chief Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci), who is a constant thorn in Navorski's side, remind him of his outsider status throughout the ordeal. Director Steven Spielberg uses the airport setting of THE TERMINAL to represent a microcosmic view of the immigrant experience in American society. Drawing on a fine performance from Hanks, and a supporting cast who provide plenty of laughs, Spielberg handles some delicate subject matter with an acute sensitivity, providing a heartfelt tale in the process.

When I first started watching this movie I thought it took place in a mall department store. I finally watched it the second time and realized it took place in the airport. Tom Hanks is a great actor, but the script was so unbelievable. I was totally disgusted about the ending. A must to see....

A delightful, albeit implausible, story that will lift your spirit. Strong performances by Hanks & Tucci. Many movie critics were disappointed. What were they expecting -- another Saving Private Ryan or Schindler's List???? Not Academy Award material, but a good film.

The Terminal - A Riveting Movie

Another great Tom Hanks movie. This is one of the roles that very few could pull off, and even fewer could ome close to Tom Hanks in their attempts. It gets your attention rights from the very beginning, and keeps it throughout the entire movie.

Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks) lands in New York at the Kennedy Airport to find out his country was in a civil war, and his visa is no longer recognized by the United States. So, unable to enter the U.S, or return home, he is forced to live at the airport. And............

You will have to watch it to find out what happens next, and I am sure you will not be disappointed. I can honestly say, that in my opinion, there is no bad movie with Tom Hank's in it.

Any movie with Tom Hanks is good. This is another one to show that is true. You find yourself pulling for "ol" Tom all the way thru the movie. The ending was just as good. This is an excellent movie.

this movie REALLY shows tom hanks acting abilities!!!!!! this was a tough role to play and they couldnt have cast it better!!!!!!!!
its a movie about a man whos passport got canceled while in the air on his way to america (due to a government takeover that happened during his flight that made his country not recognizable as a country) ..... now he fell through a crack in the system, his plane is landed and he is in the US but there is no way to help him, he isnt allowed to leave the airport and is expected to stay until the matter is resolved ..... so he finds himself living in the airport, doest speak ANY english, and there is no translator to properly explain the situation.... this movie has a little of everything (except action) its dramatic, sad, funny, and even a little romantic (with cathrine zeta jones) .... basicly shows how he survives in the airport, learning english, no money, deals with no one wanting to hire him, and has an unsaid war with the supervisor of airport security (and no matter how hard he tried to be friends something happens that makes the supervisor not like him) .... he even becomes the airport hero!!!!!!!
an amazing thing about this is i hear its inspired by a true story.... i bought this movie and i enjoyed it so much i watch it again and again, i even had friends visiting international and we all watched it together for some good laughs!!!!!!!!

Unbelievable... really, not to be believed...
Review created: 07/16/09

It was long. The basis of the story was sweet but completely unbelievable! NO WAY would any of this happen, especially in New York (and I live here)... I was happy I watched it but I do not believe I would ever watch it again. Sorry Tom, I love Tom Hanks but you could keep this one...

I really enjoyed this movie!!! The whole family did. It was yet another side of Tom Hanks, and Katheine Zeta Jones. The chemistry between them, a little awkward at first, but it warmed up as the story progressed I thought. Wonderful story!

  Unexpectedly good!

I titled my review 'unexpectedly good' because I initially thought, "how much can they actually get out of a guy running around/living in an airport for nearly a year?" Well, needless to say I was pleasantly surprised at the twists and turns of events not only in the life of the main character but in the lives of all of the supporting roles as well. Very good movie overall; and of course most of us naturally root for the underdog, and there's plenty of opportunities while watching this one played excellently by Tom Hanks.

Torn between giving this movie a 4 or 5 rating - decided its closer to 5. Story is plausible, acting is excellent, it's almost a tear jerker at times, and it appeal to a wide audience.

Tom give a perfect performance with so much inventive ways to stay alive and succeed to make his mission. I like the way that make me believe that with a little good will nothing is impossible. Catherine Zeta Jones give a good work also.

  Another Ton Hanks Hit
Review created: 02/03/08

I know, I know, there are all kinds of people who'll tell you that it takes more then one actor to make a movie. Well that's true, to a point, but any movie Tom Hanks is in is automatically going to be 10 fold better then it would have been other wise.
