Granddaddy guitarist Jim Fairchild (aka All Smiles) churned out his first solo album in 2007, a lo-fi affair with heart and twang. His unassuming vocals and simple arrangements support hooky pop tunes that stay a little more earthbound than Grandaddy's gentle electronica.

3.5 stars out of 5 -- [T]here's clearly something going on -- in the melancholy melodies of tracks like 'Killing Sheep' or 'Summer Stay' but especially 'Moth In A Cloud Of Smoke' -- that should appeal to fans of Fairchild's former band.
