Album Notes Personnel: Taylor Dayne (vocals), Bob Cadway (guitar), Richie Cannata (saxophone), Rich Tancredi (keyboards, percussion, drum programming), Steve Skinner (keyboards), Donald Gladstone (bass), Ric Wake, Frank Desaro (percussion, drum programming). Recorded at Cove City Sound Studios, Glen Cove, New York; Platinum Island Studios and Power Station, New York.Taylor Dayne is a powerhouse singer, and her debut TELL IT TO MY HEART convincingly showcases her varied talents as a vocalist and interpreter. Bringing a rock background and a strong R&B sensibility to dance music, Dayne rips through a series of first-rate dance-oriented tunes like "Prove Your Love" and the title track. She roars, growls and bellows her way through ten tracks, showing off a commanding voice almost too powerful to be captured on record. But she also demonstrates impressive self-control, as on the effective R&B ballad "I'll Always Love You," and the challenging pop tune "Carry Your Heart."The Honey Cone's oldie "Want Ads," the Motown-ish "Where Does That Boy Hang Out," and "In The Darkness" have an updated girl-group groove. On "In The Darkness" Dayne loses some of the adult intensity of her more contemporary numbers, letting loose with a younger, more innocent sound. Other strong tracks include the robust hit "Don't Rush Me," where she again exhibits mastery of her powerful, athletic voice.Taylor Dayne can be as soulful as Whitney Houston, and as vocally flexible as Mariah Carey, but she adds a grittiness that makes her rhythm and blues come from the gut. | Find errors in the product description? Reviews 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. This is a great debut effort. This album features Taylor's first set of consecutive Top Ten hit singles. The rest of the album was just filler. What can you expect when Clive Davis asks you to record a whole album when your first single has exploded world-wide? Taylor managed to find some other notable songs to round out this collection. 'Do You Want It Right Now' was a dance track which ended up being covered in the 90's. 'Carry Your Heart' is a touching ballad which could have easily been her first #1 single. Filler songs include some 60's tracks which can easily be skipped. Overall, for a first effort and for having this collection completed in 6 weeks, it's a nice introduction to the greatness of Miss Dayne. Be sure to check out her stunning new album, 'Satisfied'. The fast beats and sharp bass of hits "Tell It To My Heart" and "Don't Rush Me" beg to be cranked up. "I'll Always Love You" is a nice change of pace and was also a hit. If you're a fan of 80's dance/pop music, you'll like this CD. (I don't know why eBay's date says 1990. The dates on the disc and paperwork are 1987 & 1988, which is what I recall.)
