Book review: Telephones Antique to Modern

I bought this book because of a growing interest in collecting vintage phones. Inside of Telephones Antique to Modern are hundreds of full-color photographs of vintage & antique phones. The book consists mostly of photographs for identification purposes with a little bit of descriptive text on history. The photos are large and marvelously clear, captioned with the type of phone, the name, the maker, estimated prices, colors, and dimensions. Chapters are classified according to type of phone. The last chapter has a long list of companies that manufactured phones. Also includes photos & description of modern novelty phones that are now collectible and vintage telephone memorabilia. There are a few pictures of things that don't even look like phones.
I like this book for identification purposes. The small amount of telephone history in this book is informative but not complete. Look elsewhere for more complete info on telephone history or regarding telephone restoration.
