  Technique - New Order

One or two cuts that make the whole CD worth buying. If you're already a NO fan, this one will not disappoint, but it's not as strong as some of their other CDs, but I still strongly recommend. It is a bit dated now, but see my last statement above. Good on-the-road CD for it's energy and dance-ability. Lyrics are great. the whole sound of the vocals and each instrument is terrific. Heavy, melodic base which is pretty unique to NO. Drums and drum machine are fantastic. Light on the synth keyboards that always leaves me craving for more-- I love it but give me more! If you're new to NO, I suggest the CDs Waiting For The Sirens Call and Get Ready. These are more guitar heavy and therefore more up to date sounding. Best Of New Order is a good intro to older stuff. Honestly, if you ever start to listen to their vast library and you like a dance-rock sound with intelligent lyrics you'll soon dig these guys.

Maybe I'm missing something but I just can't see what all the hype is about Technique. It's decent but musically they seemed to be borrowing heavily from The Cure and other dark pop bands. In a nutshell, this is easy listening catchy stuff but not nearly as mind blowing as some other reviewers would have you think. 3 Stars.
