Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets by John J. Murphy (1999, Hardcover)

Interested in Finacial market and futures. Broker suggested I acquaint myself with this book before starting to read graphics. I am sure I want this book and am looking forward to recieving it. Roy Chandler

Never got the textbook. I wonder if it was ever shipped??? Wastage of my time as I had to chase to get the refund.

The book defines in detail the graphical analysis of the market. The many patterns the market goes through, the most frequent and useful patterns are identified and presented to the reader. Its an excellent book to say the least!

If you want to learn, really learn, about technical analysis, this is the best text book I have come across yet. It covers every aspect in relative detail, but is an easy read. Lists other sources for further study. And it gives you some very usable techniques and tactics to develop your ability to trade profitably.

If you believe the basic tenants of technical analysis you will refer back to this book again and again.

Well written and laid out in a very good sequence to bring all of the aspects of technical analysis together.

I am reading Technical Analysis for Dummies and I use this book to get a detailed understanding of the specific indicators. I have read bits and pieces of the book but it has been a great help. I am a newbie and I highly recommend this book to other who are starting off trying to learn TA. Though the book is about 9 years old the indicators explanations are still valid today; I haven't read the section on programming with TradeStation but I think that portion might be a little out of date. However, you really should get a separate book for coding TA models.
