Teach Yourself Hindi by Rupert Snell, Simon Weightman (2003, Paperback)

This book teaches in a logical order, just as most language textbooks do. It comes in great handy for my course, since my professor likes to jump around a lot and half the things he says are completely random and come out of nowhere. The book provides good context for what he says and allows me to make sense of it. The dialogue portion is continuous with repetitive characters, so it is like reading a soap opera (the drama is pretty intense and entertaining!) Overall a good book that teaches quite a bit. Be prepared to learn to Devnagari script first thing, because the rest of the book is written in it!
