Rupert Snell's Beginner's Hindi is the 4th do-it-yourself Hindi course I've tried, after Pimsleur's Hindi, Colloquial Hindi and Snell/Weightman's Teach Yourself Hindi. High recommendations from other sites prompted my purchase of this course. I've not been disappointed. The book is great. There is strong coverage of the basics of alphabet, grammer and vocabulary. Mr. Snell's guide is easy to read and follow. He teaches you to say things that actual people would say. It's a realistic course. The only weakness in the package is the accompanying cds. While they follow book and include many extras, they don't leave enough time for repetition. The cd has moved on before you can practice your pronunciation. Nonetheless, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product as a start to basic Hindi language education.
