The clubs are excellent. The rating I give is to the handling of ebay on the fraudulent listings. This review is not about the actual clubs but rather some of those listed on ebay. As many are aware, there are fake clubs listed on ebay and this is a big problem. I am on the market for new irons myself and I can see a bunch of listings that are suspect. Anyone in the market for buying clubs should use caution. Here are some ways to avoid getting ripped off. First, check the feedback comment. If there has been no activity past couple of months and all of sudden the seller is offering clubs, you can bet the seller's account had been compromised by hackers. To make sure, ask seller a question and if there is no response, DO NOT BUY! I did this and some of the seller responded and told me they were not even aware the fact that there are items listed with their IDs. Secondly, look for the description of the item. If there is no description of the item by the seller other than that provided by ebay, I would stay away. Third, make sure you ask for serial number for the clubs. Once you get it, call the manufacturer and have them verify the serial numbers are legit. It only takes couple of minutes to do this.

I only wish ebay is more responsible by actively sorting out the bad from the good sellers. Without such effort, people will be turned away from making high price purchases on ebay and it would be a shame.

The new r7 irons hit well but not much different than my old rac lt's. The ball is easier to work but the distance is about the same I thought that they would have better feel but are still kind of harsh feeling if you are looking for a forged feel this is not the club for you. Pretty forgiving and the TT s300 shafts are the best. Be very careful when bidding on your clubs on ebay LOTS of bogus sellers out there contact your seller BEFORE you bid on something.

Wow, this is the perfect set of irons, very similar to Mizuno MP 60's these clubs are very workable and the sweet spot feels so good when you hit it right! I've never had a set that is as forgiving and as workable. This is the perfect set for the low handicapper. These are players irons. Mid-High Handicapper may have trouble hitting these.

  r7 tour stiff

I was hitting Cleveland A7 Tour's. Great clubs. They allowed me to improve my game enough where I started looking for a blade. I demoed the Taylor r7 Tour clubs at the suggestion of a friend. He said the blades might be to big of a jump. I hit these and decided I was getting them. I cannot believe the height I am getting off these clubs. The ball is now whithin a foot of my divots. Distance is a little longer than my Cleveland's. The biggest difference is how they come out of the rough. Clubs are great and I highly reccomend them. One big thing is that you have to be able to work the irons to get the most out of them. This has actually helped my game and improved my swing. As for eBay, same thing is always true. Check your sellers feedback! If something doesn't feel right, trust that feeling. Hope it helps.

TM R7 TP was my choice
Review created: 10/09/08

I had been playing with forged irons, and had started playing with various cavity back irons, some that I own and some I had borrowed, looking for one set that I could settle in with and play regularily. I work part time in a pro-shop and had the opportunity to hit a bunch of different irons, and finally narrowed it down between the Taylor Made R7 TP and another set. They both felt really good and had several positive features that appealed to me. I noticed on ebay that the TM R7s cost slightly less than the other irons new, but were selling for more than the other irons used, which told me that other golfers apparently thought a lot of the R7 TPs as well. I like the clean, small head look, and they have a good weight and feel really good swinging them. I don't feel a lot of vibration when the club impacts the ball either, and as an older guy, that appeals to me. I don't think it's going to take me long to get used to them because they feel a lot like the forged clubs that I had been playing with, but hopefully they will be more forgiving on bad hits.

  Taylormade R7 TP irons 3-pw.

After months of consideration and choices I decided to purchase these particular clubs. If I bought from the pro shop I would have to custom order them. I saw these on line and the specs fit me perfectly. I shoot low to mid 80's from the regular tee's on the average. With these clubs I played the blue tees, one tee back. There are one more set of tee's back which are the black. I decided not to play those tee's since it was the first time using the Taylormade R7 TP irons. I shot a 75 with 4 missed birdie opportunities inside 5 feet.
With these clubs all I have to do is execute a solid swing and the ball goes right where I aim. The club plays half a club longer for me and I get enough feedback on solid or miss hit shots. With these clubs I loose distance on miss hits, but it goes right on track. I've decided to put a better effort into my game since I have the time now. Therefore the newer clubs. I did my homework and demo days before deciding to buy these clubs.
I currently play between a 10 and 8 handicap. I feel with these clubs I will be scratch by summers end, thats my goal anyway. I feel blessed to live where I can play year round, and with these clubs I feel confident that goal will be easily reached. If your considering purchasing these TP irons I would highly recommend them.

Pure feel for Tour Pure irons

I have played with forged heads for several years now. I started playing golf with Ping clubs, but loved the feel, responsiveness, and ability to work/move the ball with forged irons. Well, I finally decided to try these irons after a friend who also began playing blades told me he had gotten this set. AMAZING.
The flight off the club was solid, strong, and the ball comes off with purpose. TM blends the feel of forged heads with the kindness to cavity backed irons. THe result is pleasing, even before I adjusted the lies to my 1 degree upright. I would heartily recommend these irons for golfers who enjoy forged clubs, those who desire a strong sense of feel for the clubhead and the ball at impact, and those who must have ease in shaping their shots.
Make no mistake, if you are not satisfied with these irons, I would make sure that you have evaluated your shaft options, club grip thickness, and the lie of the club because such features often are overlooked and the club is blamed. Such a wonderful club for a feel golfer, especially one who has a hard time with long irons!

  Best Irons on the Market

Best looking irons in golf! Sit to the ground very good and even without the wide sole and big offset they still are easy to hit. If you don't like the look of the game improvement type iron that look like a plow on the end of a stick - you'll really like these!

Been playing blades for the last 15 years. Finally got tired of all my friends getting away with their mishits. Clubs are bigger than I'm used to but still have a pretty small top line. The ball feels good coming off the face and the mishits are great. Looking forward to 'getting away' with a few bad swings.

  Not impressed

From the raving that I read my expectations were high, but these have performed average. My biggest let down is that they use tapered shafts. I was hoping to pull the S300 shafts out and put in my slightly longer project X, but no go since they are .370
I hit the ball high and hoped that the TP's would bring the flight down a little, but no such luck as they fly high and weak for me, so I'll likely put them back on ebay and hope they serve someone else better than they did for me.

  Taylormade r7 TP - a "Players Iron"
Review created: 12/05/08
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The Taylormade r7 TP is a wonderful "players club" that offers great feel and a descent amount of forgiveness. I have played the Ping i10 and the Ping S57 recently...and the Taylormade r7 TP is better. Larger face, thin top line, and the reduced offset just exudes confidence at address. But as we all know...it's what happens when you actually hit the ball that matters, and this set of irons delivers! A definite buy for someone looking for a more forgiving club in a "players iron".

  Taylor Made R7 TP Irons

I played Ping Eye 2's for 21 years, so I knew the transition would not be easy and might take some time. I've now been hitting these TP's for about 4 weeks, and they are starting to feel more natural. They are very solid when you hit it correctly. They seem to be more forgiving when you hit it THIN, versus when you hit it off center on the face. They do not seem to be much longer or shorter than the Pings, although I did have one easy-hit Pitching Wedge seem to fly an extra 10 or 15 yards! I'm going to give them a good 6 months of workouts. If it doesn't seem to be the right decision, I'll go back to the Pings.

Taylor Made R7 TP Irons set Golf Club
Review created: 07/03/08

Background: I am 16 years old and have a 10 handicap. My teacher says I have really good swing mechanics, but I need a lot of work on the finesse game to lower my score (practice, practice, practice). I was using a set of graphite shaft Callaway x-12s with medium flex shaft for about 5 years. My swing had improved and I had grown considerably, so that I needed a stiff shaft. Needed a more pro-style iron to allow better ball control along with steel shafts. Read reviews and tried out the R7 along with Mizzuno and a couple of others at a local pro-shop. The r7 were very solid striking. The face has a thinner line at the top which I like. THere is a large sweet spot. These are great feeling clubs and strke the ball consistently. My only disappointment is the added weight of the steel shafts, but this would be the case with any other club. Steel is just heavier than graphite. My dad has tried them and also likes them well. The seller on Ebay made the transaction effortless and the clubs were better than described. Most of the clubs had never been hit. Now I know that I have the type equipment to the next level.

I play golf often in the warm weather and my handicap is 8. I really like the new R7TP irons and they fit me perfectly. I bought a custom set on eBay and it was much easier, faster, and save a few dollars. I recommend eBay and also the seller, both provided a flawless experience. Gotta go.....the sun is out and its time to play!
