Best irons I have ever owned.

The TaylorMade R7 Irons are some of the best available. Very long and nice feel at impact. You will use less club. I have been playing for 3 years and I am a 12 handicap. My old sets, RAC OS then RAC LT, I would hit the 7 iron about 150 yards. With the R7 irons, I hit the 7 iron about 165. The moderate offset is nice, particularly with the short irons as I would miss the target left with the RAC OS, which has too much offset for me. The R7 has a higher flight than the RAC LT with more carry and distance which gives you more confidence when shooting over trees and hazards. You do not lose much of the workability you have with the RAC LT either. The ultimate iron with a mix of workability, forgiveness, distance and feel. I highly recommend you give them a try.

They have good feel, are forgiving, and get good distance. What's not to like. I bought them because they were highly rated, and demo experience was good.

I WOULD PROBABLY LIKE THEM IF THEY EVER SHOWED UP. I ORDERED THEM ABOUT 7 WEEKS AGO, AND STILL HAVE NOT SEEN THEM. PAYPAL CAN'T SEEM TO CONTACT THE SELLER OR LOCATE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THEM. SO IN A NUT SHELL I GOT F#$@$D. SO THANK YOU EBAY AND PAYPAL FOR MY SAFE AND SECURE PURCHASE. CLINT MORRIS

AFTER 2 MONTHS I FINALLY GOT PAY PAL TO CHECK OUT MY PROBLEM AND THEY FOUND OUT SOMEONE WAS PUTTING THAT ITEM UNDER ANOTHER SELLER AND GETTING THE MONEY,BUT THEY DID GIVE ME $430 OF MY $475 THAT I GOT SCREWED ON. SO FYI CHECK WITH THE SELLER BEFORE YOU BUY NOW OR EVEN WIN THE BID.

  R7 irons are excellent!

The r7 irons with the regarlar steel shafts are great. I bought a set with SW-5 iron. I will buy the 4 iron to add to my set. If you can't hit these irons then I'd buy some lessons. I don't believe the distance claims made by Taylor Made on their website. Actually, I don't believe a lot of the claims made by Taylor Made, but they do make a solid product. I do believe they have the expertise to make a set of clubs that will give you the best of any product out there. No fear on the R7 irons. They are very, very nice. Good luck with your purchase.

  AWSOME SET OF IRONS
Review created: 02/12/09

4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I have played many Clubs from Ping thru Cobra's never thought about owning a set of Taylor Mades after the disappointment in their drivers I kept cracking the face of the drivers and the would send me the same crap and I would break it again. Well after 3 Taylor Made Drivers I swicthed to Titliest Driver. Anyway my buddy had a set of these on the range one day and I decided to hit the 6 Iron with my Cobras average was about 180-185. With R7 I went out to about 195 I was impressed. So I did a test I put my son out their on a Golf Cart and hit 5 balls and 3 out of 5 were over 190 with a 6 iron. So I bought me a set and I love them.. I would recommend these irons to anyone who likes a sweet spot to hit and an easy hitting iron period. I am a 6 handicap and I love these clubs money well spent

  Smooth swinging clubs
Review created: 07/01/09(updated 07/01/09)
by:
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Handicap: 23
Courses played: Public
Experience: 2 seasons (dang New England winters!)

Feel: Some people have said that they do not have great feel with these clubs. I guess that is a matter of opinion. I think these clubs do allow a good bit of feel for a set of game-improvement irons. When you hit the ball just right, you know it. If you hit the ball completely off, you'll know it too. Of course, if you hit the ball just a bit off center you'll probably not know it because the sweet spot on the clubs is large... and that's not a bad thing!

Performance: These are some really sweet swinging clubs. Ball absolutely launches when hit. I feel like these clubs are juiced compared to my previous no-name brand set. I mean, really, these balls fly! If you are upgrading to the R7s you will likely see an immediate difference in your ball launch. The first time I picked up my 7 iron and took a swing I was amazed by the height I got on it. I've also found myself hitting the ball straighter and more consistent than in the past. I'd like to think that I have improved my game but some credit should be given to the clubs. With my old set, I feared my 4 iron. Now I can hit it and hit it well - it's a great feeling to know that I can hit my longer irons consistently. By the way, these clubs hit LONG! I've gained an average of 5 yards on each club.

Look: I am a big fan of the look of the club heads. Clean look at address. I feel confident picking up any club in the set and taking a swing. I like the graphics on the cavity as well, not too busy, not too boring. I demo'd the Cleveland CG7s and the top line of the club was thicker (clunkier) than the R7s and you could see the CG7 bright yellow graphics of some of the irons at address - distracting, if you ask me. No such problem with the R7s, clean look, confidence inspiring. If I have one complaint about the look of the overall club, it's in the shaft. The graphite shafts are two-toned which seems almost toy-ish to me. I have demo'd the steel shafts, they look clean and hit very well but I got a great deal on the graphite shafts so I couldn't say no. After one round with the R7s I could care less what the shafts looked like. Overall the clubs have a very clean look to them and inspire confidence at address. More confidence = better golf.

Summary: Overall, you'd be hard pressed to find a better set of game-improvement irons at the price they are currently being offered at on eBay. Make sure you purchase from a reputable seller (Taylormade irons have quite a few copycats out there) and you'll be happy as a clam. Long, straight and high launching, these clubs are great for high to mid-handicappers (I dare not suggest clubs to low handicappers as I am a low to mid-90s hack). I've dropped an average of 5 strokes with these clubs, am no longer fearful of the long iron shots, and am enjoying the game of golf more than I ever imagined. Enjoy.

  My Buying experience
Review created: 01/07/08

After reading many reports from others who have been victims of buying knock offs, or fake merchandise, especially in the golf catagory, I decided I could eliminate some of the risk by making sure the person I purchased from had stellar reviews from those who had purchased product previously.
I was extremely happy with the communication from the seller, the price for the merchandise was unbelieveably good, and the product was 100% real deal merchandise.

Great clubs for the novice who wants to improve!
Review created: 05/18/09

2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

After hitting many irons, trying to find the right kind to grow with, I chose the Taylormade r7's. Boy am I glad I did. These are much more forgiving clubs than I had anticipated and really help me focus on my setup and swing. The stiff shafts on these really take the flopiness out that I had felt with my previous graphite shafts. These clubs also hold-up very well and will last while I try to improve my scores.
Before you buy any irons, go and see a pro-shop that is qualified in fitting you to the right clubs. Once you have this done, it is all down hill from there!

Long clubs, soft, not so forgiving

These clubs are by far the longest game improving irons I have ever hit. However, I don't agree that they are as forgiving on mishits. The thinner face makes them more difficult to hit but overall a wonderful set if you can play. I am a 15 handicapper. So when I connect they go far but when I mis the sweet spot, not so much. So unless you have played with blades before, or players irons, I'd go with a more forgiving iron such as hybrids or x-18s.

  Great irons
Review created: 05/18/09

I've always had problems with a big miss left two or three times a round that would really crunch my score. So I bought these after playing Callaways for years (first X-14's, then X-20's). In my opinion, the R7's play very similar to the X-20's, however, there is not so much offset in the irons. This has pretty much eliminated the big miss left that I would have. You will see reviews that claim these irons are 10 to 15 yards longer than others. It's true, but I think it's because they are a touch longer than standard and are about one swingweight lighter. The weight difference is noticeable compared to the X-20's when holding them side by side. The R7's swing real easy so it's not an issue.

These clubs are great for a player wanting to make imporvements to their game. Being a high hanicap player I have moved from the 90's to the low 80's in a very short period of time. The clubs are very giving on mis hits and have a great feel and appearance. Great product.

  Great set of TaylorMade irons!!

I upgraded from an older set of TaylorMade Burner irons, and I love the new r7's. They have a great sweet spot, and are pretty forgiving. I have always played with TaylorMade irons, and I've been so pleased with them that I will probably never switch. The price on ebay was much lower than I'd found in retail locations, and shipping was reasonable.

I love these clubs. Have the 4-A, stiff.
Very easy to hit straight, I have to try to move them (my natural draw is now tough to work).
Still learning the extra distance over my previous clubs.
No regrets.

I was looking at the various Taylormade R7 models and this one seemed to fit my 16 year old sons game the best. He had Callaway Big Bertha 2004 but was ready to move up. The upgraded Winn grips were the selling point on these vs. the standard grips on all the other sellers clubs. These are great clubs at a great price.

I like the style of the club head when looking down on them. I purchased these clubs for lees than half the cost at a golf shop. There is nothing to dislike about these clubs. I bought them because I prefer the Taylor Made brand and could not pass up the amount I was saving.
