Feel: Some people have said that they do not have great feel with these clubs. I guess that is a matter of opinion. I think these clubs do allow a good bit of feel for a set of game-improvement irons. When you hit the ball just right, you know it. If you hit the ball completely off, you'll know it too. Of course, if you hit the ball just a bit off center you'll probably not know it because the sweet spot on the clubs is large... and that's not a bad thing!
Performance: These are some really sweet swinging clubs. Ball absolutely launches when hit. I feel like these clubs are juiced compared to my previous no-name brand set. I mean, really, these balls fly! If you are upgrading to the R7s you will likely see an immediate difference in your ball launch. The first time I picked up my 7 iron and took a swing I was amazed by the height I got on it. I've also found myself hitting the ball straighter and more consistent than in the past. I'd like to think that I have improved my game but some credit should be given to the clubs. With my old set, I feared my 4 iron. Now I can hit it and hit it well - it's a great feeling to know that I can hit my longer irons consistently. By the way, these clubs hit LONG! I've gained an average of 5 yards on each club.
Look: I am a big fan of the look of the club heads. Clean look at address. I feel confident picking up any club in the set and taking a swing. I like the graphics on the cavity as well, not too busy, not too boring. I demo'd the Cleveland CG7s and the top line of the club was thicker (clunkier) than the R7s and you could see the CG7 bright yellow graphics of some of the irons at address - distracting, if you ask me. No such problem with the R7s, clean look, confidence inspiring. If I have one complaint about the look of the overall club, it's in the shaft. The graphite shafts are two-toned which seems almost toy-ish to me. I have demo'd the steel shafts, they look clean and hit very well but I got a great deal on the graphite shafts so I couldn't say no. After one round with the R7s I could care less what the shafts looked like. Overall the clubs have a very clean look to them and inspire confidence at address. More confidence = better golf.
Summary: Overall, you'd be hard pressed to find a better set of game-improvement irons at the price they are currently being offered at on eBay. Make sure you purchase from a reputable seller (Taylormade irons have quite a few copycats out there) and you'll be happy as a clam. Long, straight and high launching, these clubs are great for high to mid-handicappers (I dare not suggest clubs to low handicappers as I am a low to mid-90s hack). I've dropped an average of 5 strokes with these clubs, am no longer fearful of the long iron shots, and am enjoying the game of golf more than I ever imagined. Enjoy.
