I WAS RIPPED OFF BY A FRAUDULENT SELLER!!!
Review created: 11/12/06

I entered a "But it now" order, and of course, was successful. 10 minutes after concluding the sale, I received an eBay email advising that the seller's account had been "hijacked" by a third party. I was instructed to immediately seek reimbursement if I had already paid. I did pay via PayPal and followed the instructions to enter my claim. I HAVE RECEIVED ZERO SATISFACTION ON THIS CLAIM. Since I did actually receive the goods (a piece of crap from Shanghai, China worth perhaps $20.00), I am out the purchase price of $196.00. The item received was obviously not manufactured by TaylorMade. It was a cheap counterfit!

Buyer Beware! You have no recourse in a situation such as this. I trusted eBay to provide a secure arena for buy/sell transactions. They failed to do this, but I am the party that lost out.

I will never make another purchase on ebay!

All the scams = bad Ebay and Paypal

I was thinking of buying a TAYLORMADE R7 460 10.5* DRIVER and decided not to take the chance because of all the counterfeit clubs on EBay. EBay and Paypal should get their act together. I almost made the purchase until I read these reviews.

P.S. I really like the club and plan on spending a little more from a real shop. The legitimate sellers need to put pressure on EBay to stop all the fraud, they also lose because buyers cannot trust eBay.

HOW ABOUT LISTING THE SELLERS AND AUCTION NUMBERS FOR BAD TRANSACTIONS!

I did end up buying the club from a store and really like playing with it.

lol.. most of the people on here cant tell a counterfeit if it landed on their freaking head.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300102530934&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020

I purchased this item few days ago and received it today. One look and i knew it was fake. Even the weights were fake (4gram was 2, 6gm was 7.5). One of the screws in the back didnt fit properly.

I actually went and bought one from a local shop ( i should have from the start, it only cost me 360) and compaired.

WOW.. what a difference !! two different driver.. they didnt even look the same side by side.

The SELLER : WARRENVASS aka GOLFDESIGNS77 (2nd ebay acct)sold probably 30 or more drivers. I'm reading the feedback from these clueless people and it makes me sick !!!

BEWARE !!!

oh by the way.. PAYPAL SUCKS !! i'm pretty sure they're not gonna do anything about. My advice is USE A CREDIT CARD WHEN USING PAYPAL. YOU CAN ALWAYS DISPUTE WITH UR CC COMPANY AND THEY'LL CREDIT IMMEDIATELY.

I WAS RIPPED OFF BY A FRAUDULENT SELLER. I ENTERED A BUY IT NOW FOR $119 FOR A TAYLORMADE R5 TP WITH A WEIGHT KIT. I PAID FOR THE ITEM , THE NEXT DAY EBAY ADVISED ME THE SELLERS ACCOUNT HAD BEEN COMPROMISED AND I SHOULD TAKE ALL STEPS TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT. I CONTACT PAYPAL, SELLER WOULD NOT RESPOND TO EMAIL I FILED A COMPLAINT THRU PAYPAL AFTER 3 WEEKS, , THEY CONTACTED SELLER AND HE SENT A KNOCK-OFF TAYLORMADE SO I CONTACTED PAYPAL AGAIN AND THEY (SUPERVISOR) FOR NOT RECEING WHAT I BID ON. PAYPAL RULED IN FAVOR OF SELLER. THEY SAID YOU COULD ONLY FILE 1 COMPLAINT PER ITEM . THEY SAID HE COULD HAVE SENT ME A PUTTER AND THEY WOULD STILL RULE IN HIS FAVOR BECAUSE MY COMPLAINT WAS FOR ITEM NOT RECEIVED. PAYPAL SUPERVISOR TOLD ME HE HE COULD HAVE SENT ME A TOOTH PICK AND THEY WOULD STILL RULE IN FAVOR. THIS ITEM CAME FROM CHINA (SKOTT 1974) 6 OTHER SELLERS BOUGHT FROM THIS SAME SELLER ON THE SAME DAY SO I GUESS HE MADE ABOUT $800.00 WITH PAYPALS HELP

  I GOT SCAMMED TOO
Review created: 05/02/07
by:
29 of 29 people found this review helpful.

Following along with many others on this site, I, too was victim of a China scam. The legit ebay seller's site was hijacked and the fraudulent Taylormade 460 R7s were inserted. Who could know this could be done?
The legit ebayer (dc150ny) deals primarily in CDs and has excellent feedback so anyone would not hesitiate to deal with him especially when these clubs were being auctioned as such low prices.
Some of the clues I discovered after the Paypal process (another story) were that each club had 1 bid bt the same person - 'mgaucci' - and occasionally another shill would join in and they'd keep jacking up the price until they sucked some unsuspecting sucker in.
I made Ebay aware of these situations and within an hour or so they were all cancelled.
Paypal has acknowledged my problem and I believe they will refund my funds after a few weeks of investigation. If not, since it was done via a credit card, I will not pay the credit card company and follow up with a letter to them explaingin the circumstances. Over the years they have been very good about customer service.
My attitude toward Ebay is rapidly changing because of this blatant fraud activity. A lot can be done that is not being done to prevent this activity.
My Ebay activity will be lessened considerably after this ocurrence.

  R7 counterfeit
Review created: 04/29/07
by:
24 of 24 people found this review helpful.

I purchased an R7 Draw from a buyer reported to be from San Diego using the buy it now feature. Shortly after the purchase using my verified PayPal account I recieved a notice from E-Bay indicating that the auction had been cancelled and the seller's privileges removed. The next day I discovered that the funds from my bank account were transferred to the seller who now was someone in China. I immediately suspected fraud and sent the original seller an e-mail requesting an explanation. He confirmed that fraud was involved but provided no other details except that he had received no funds in his account. Next, I started the claim process with PayPal. The next thing I knew, I received shipment of the club from China. It was a pretty good copy, but following my instincts I took it to a pro shop which confirmed that the club was counterfeit. But, because the seller was able to show PayPal that the club was shipped to me PayPal denied my claim. After calling PayPal and going through the whole litany of my experience they finally agreed to restore the funds to my bank account, but I had to argue with them to get it done. In searching for another R7 draw driver and looking at what is beng shown on E-Bay I can see that a substantial number of drivers are the same counterfeit version that I purchased. One way to tell the difference is that the weight screw on the authentic version is clearly recessed into a cavity in the back of the club. On the counterfeit version the screw is grayish in color and is not recessed. Also, the logo on the authentic shaft is turned down when the club is held at address. On the counterfeit version the logo is usually turned up. However, be aware that stock photos are used in some of the adds. I'm suspicious of the same amatuer photos showing up on a number of different seller's sites. Good luck!

The "real" thing is a great club!!!!!
Review created: 11/25/06(updated 12/29/06)
22 of 24 people found this review helpful.

After buying the "real" thing on ebay I'm really pleased with this club's performance. I'm at least 20 yards longer and keeping the ball in the short grass much more consistently. I'd heard that this club was only for the "younger" player with high club head speeds. Well, I'm 65 and only have a swing speed of 80 - 90, but am hitting the ball really well. Several months ago I was defrauded on ebay by purchasing a counterfeit/knock-off from a seller, listed in the US, but was actually in Shanghai, China. Have disputed the charge on my AMEX, and it appears that they are supporting me on this dispute. As near as I can tell, Paypal/Ebay, have reversed the deposit to the account of the shyster, and my dispute is being honored by AMEX. Be cautious in making all purchases and investigate prior to making a commitment to buy. Caveat Emptor, Let the buyer beware!

I am out $300 b/c off this and have filed disputes w/ paypal... not sure if I will ever get the money back. DO NOT BUY CLUBS OFF EBAY!!! IT IS A FRAUD!!!. And for the record, I have used ebay in the past to buy and sell, but will never do so again.

Beware E-bay merchants not normally selling clubs are getting hijacked. Fake products are being sold on their site using their rep. I've received 0 support from e-Bay or Paypal when I purchased this driver. I had to find someone at the US post office who could write in Chinese to send the 20.00 piece of garbage back to Shanghai, China. I am confused why E-bay and paypal treat these criminals(hijackers of legit e-bay merchants) as if they are legal ebay merchant accounts? They burden to get a refund is on our backs(victims of crimal acts).

This is a fine club if it is authentic. I used a make offer option and bought this club using PayPal and found after calling in the serial number on the hosel, that this is a fake Taylor Made R7 SuperQuad driver. Several people have recently been ripped off by this "Simpsondevil" dishonest seller. Several buyers have left negative feedbacks and all of the sudden this seller has made a feedback comments private.

Too bad, this is fine driver but as we all know, there are dishonest people that always have to make a buck the easy way off honest buyers.

Trust me Paypal only looks out for themselves. If you got ripped off then you know what I mean. I did not but this club so I am not rating the club. I am only responding to many of your comments in regards to Paypal. I have done much research on this matter and have many, many friends who have had many, many problems with Paypal. So I can only say as long as you are dealing with them get use to it.

LOOK OUT FOR CHINESE COUNTERFEITS ON eBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review created: 12/26/06

16 of 16 people found this review helpful.

Okay, I actually give the Taylormade R7 460 driver an excellent rating because if you happen to purchase a REAL one off of eBay, then you have one of the best clubs in golf.

Unfortunately, I, too, was a victim to some Chinese piece of #%@* selling fakes before Christmas '06. The bogus seller didn't hijack another seller to rip me off, he simply poached some other legitimate ad off of eBay and passed it off as his own. The cheap counterfeit I ended up with isn't worth the plastic prize you get out of a box of Cocoa Puffs.

Here are some tips for future bidders for Taylormade (or other brands for that matter) golf clubs:

1. Contact the seller by phone to verify authenticity. A call placed to Shanghai, China and answered in broken English is a tipoff you might want to look elsewhere.
2. Do NOT rely on Paypal or eBay for protection in the event you get defrauded!!! After the back-and-forth BS from Paypal in "Dispute Resolution," I finally called my credit card company and had them issue a chargeback immediately. Paypal makes you jump through hoops and even then, you aren't guaranteed to get your money back. My credit card company said that 9 times out of 10, victims end up being referred by Paypal back to their credit card companies for relief anyway.
3. Use this route if you do get caught with a fake:
-Immediately report the fraud to your credit card issuer.
-Get them to contest and reverse the charge.
-You will have to send your card issuer proof that you attempted to email or contact the bogus seller to return the club (your credit card company will send you the proper documentation in the snail mail).
-Do NOT resend the item out of your pocket as Pay"pal" dictates! Why should the victim of fraud have to pay a crook's freight for an illegal item??? I mean, does a rape victim have to foot the court costs of prosecuting her attacker?

I simply informed the Chinese vermin who sent me my new "Taylormade" that I would resend his piece of shitt ONLY AFTER I received an authentic money order from him for the expense of the return.
-Contact Taylormade's website and report the name of the eBay seller. They keep a running list of names of bogus eBay sellers on their site.
-Be sure to leave NEGATIVE Feedback on the user. (Urygre Wang, a.k.a.:"Shadow 1517" is on my shiot list and will remain there until I breathe my last vapor of life.)
-Feel free to utilize any black magic/voodoo procedures you may be familiar with to curse the seller and any of his immediate and extended family. I'm hoping my spell for "Violent Stomach Virus and Severe Dehydration with Multiple Organ Failure" is working on about 50 native Chinese as we speak.

Fortunately for me, I am not out any money on this deal like some others. Still it has been an expensive lesson in hours spent waiting for Paypal responses and dealing with my credit card company (who has been GREAT, by the way!---imagine that).

Do your homework on these sellers and wait until you have contacted the seller by phone before you actually process your buy with a paypal payment. It'll save you the hassle and your hard-earned dollars.

Oh,... and when you finally get the REAL thing, hit 'em straight!

I thik ebay shoul stop those sellers who are selling the FAKE r7 or other fake club. It really ruin the reputation. I just recieved an oddyssey putter and feel bad after reading these article. I do not now feel confident to buy any club or driver here.

If I want to buy a fake club, I can buy it from China where is only 30 $ and I do not have to pay this much money.

I think we should state the seller name as well so other buyer will never do the business with these guys.

The TM r7 460 is a great driver

16 of 19 people found this review helpful.

I demoed this club and then bought it. I also hit the new Callaway x460 tour series, Cobra F and X speed, Cobra HS9, TM r7 425, and Cleveland Launcher. The only club that even came close the r7 460 for me was the Cobra HS9, except the r7 460 is about $100+ cheaper. I consistently hit the ball 280-290 yards and nearly dead straight every time. The stiff REAX shaft has just a slight bit of give to it, which I really like. The head is huge and rarely mis-hits. I recommend hitting the club before you buy it, but I would very highly recommend it or the r7 425!

I purchased a TaylorMade R7460 Driver but when it arrived and I tried to move the weights I found that they would not work. It turns out that this club was really a knock off. It looks just like an R7 but the shaft was very different and the weights are not interchangeable. Now I'm stuck with a club I can't hit or get rid of. It was not real TaylorMade R7 Driver. I would not purchase anything from this person again. It is false advertisement!

Fake Club Received for Taylormade R7 Driver
Review created: 11/09/06

14 of 14 people found this review helpful.

My experience with 2 eBay transactions have been a nightmare! I ordered the TaylorMade R7 Driver and recieved a cheap imitation from China. I was notified by eBay that the the sellers site may have been compromised and my confidential information may be at risk. After I recieved the fake item, I once again ordered another TaylorMade R7 Diver from another seller and the exact same thing happened again! It is now my responsibility to make the claims with PayPal and my credit card company. Now PayPal says I need to send the fake club back to the seller which is located in Shanghai China. My credit card company tells me I have to take the club and and get an opinion in writing from a golf professional or another retailer the the club is not the genuine item. eBay takes no responsibility for these transactions. Based on the only 2 attempts to buy what I thought was a genuine item and the nightmare I have experienced, I will tell everyone I know that uses eBay and PayPal to stop using both services immediately. I have been totally ripped off and am now out of substantial money. The whole eBay and PayPal game is a disappointment!

  Great Club
Review created: 01/03/07(updated 03/19/07)
by:
13 of 15 people found this review helpful.

I bought the 460 from a well established seller on eBay and love it. It is very consistant and very long. My sometimes draw/mostly ugly duck hook instantly turned into the prettiest little draw you've ever seen (I usually shoot right around 90 play about 10-15 times per year). Obviously a good swing will produce a good result with almost any club, but what I've been impressed with is that my mis-hits are now playable instead of winding up as an auction for a used ball on eBay.

UPDATE 3/19/2007: Now that I've had more time to play and practice with this club I felt the need to add an update to my review. I am now hitting this driver so well that I almost feel guilty. Almost, but not quite. I switched from a draw to a fade because I found that it was even more consistent and I barely gave up any distance. This is without a doubt the biggest upgrade in my game I have ever made with any club. I cannot recommend this driver enough.

To everyone who has been ripped off, I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk but don't blame eBay when you don't do a little research before spending $200 on a club sight unseen. When I was looking for my club I ran across numerous auctions that looked fishy, so I didn't bid. What does fishy mean? Hmmm how about the fact that after looking through their feedback it became clear that they had never sold ANYTHING before let alone a high end golf club and none of the feedback was even remotely recent. Now, all of sudden, out of nowhere, they have 10-15 expensive golf clubs for sale at the same time???? So you move on to the next auction...well lets see, this COMPANY has sold 10 golf clubs in the past month and all their feedback has been positive. Seemed like a no-brainer to me.

BUYING ON EBAY AND THE R7-460 DRAW
Review created: 06/16/07(updated 09/26/07)
by:
12 of 13 people found this review helpful.

FIRST OF ALL, I LOVE MY 460 DRAW. I HAVE USED CALLAWAY FOR YEARS BUT THE R7 BLOWS THEM AWAY. AS FAR AS FRAUD ON EBAY, I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF BAD EXPERIENCES BUT GOT REIMBURSED LATER.

1-DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM ANYBODY THAT IS NOT USA BASED OR HAS A RECENT VALID NEGATIVE FEEDBACK
2-LOOK TO THE SELLERS STOR AND RET EMAILING THAT ADDRESS BEFORE BUYING.
3-NEVER PAY BY WESTERN UNION. THIS IS THE WAY MOST FRAUD HACKERS USE TO GET YOUR MONEY. TRY TO USE PAYPAL.
4-NEVER SEND A PAYMENT TO ANYWHERE, OTHER THAN THE ADDRESS OF RECORD OF THE SELLER. I ALMOST GOT RIPPED OFF BY THE HACKER INSTRUCTING ME TO SHIP TO A SECOND PARTY ADDRESS.
5-NEVER RESPOND TO AN EMAIL THAT SAYS YOUR PAYPAL OR EBAY ACCOUNT HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. ALWAYS GO TO EBAY MESSAGES OR LOG INTO YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT FOR REAL ALERTS.IF YOU RESPOND TO THE EMAIL, THEY HAVE ALL THE CONFIDENTIAL INFO THEY NEED TO HACK YOUR ACCOUNT.
6-DON'T SELL, BUY OR SHIP TO THE ASIAN RIM. THIS IS WHERE MOST OF THE FRAUD IS COMING FROM.
HOPE THIS HELPS AND PREVENTS YOU FROM GOING THROUGH WHAT I HAVE.

  fraudulent sellers taylor made r7
Review created: 01/01/07

11 of 12 people found this review helpful.

I was sucked into buying a taylor made r7 driver in late november, as it turned out after going thru my paypal account info, I was notified by e-bay that this item was tko'd because of third party involvement. My question is why did they (e-bay) not realize this until after one of this seller's items were bought? I immediately called my bank and had my account frozen waiting for this scumbag to come looking for payment. Thank god I didn't wait for paypal to act on it . From whwat I am seeing in reviews, e-bay and paypal don't stand up for a buyer who unknowingly buys a counterfeit peice. I feel sorry for anyone who gets ripped off this way. A real kick in the butt would be having to pay customs fees for an item like this. It's reasons like this people (including myself) are getting less tolerent of these foreigners.
