I'm a 7 handicap and LOVE these irons. I was playing the ping I10 irons, they were nice I didn't really have any complaints about them but when I hit the Tour burners the distance and forgivness I got was un beliveable, I easily added 10 yds to each club. I would highly recommend thses clubs to any skill level golfer.

  perfect set of irons

i recieved my set of almost new taylor made irons yesterday and found them to be in better condition than i expected! i immediatly put them in my bag and ran out to the couse with a buddy and played a quick 9. the clubs felt amazing. i was getting more distance off every shot than my previous irons. and when i struck the ball well, the clubs felt so soft, i could barely feel the club make contact with the ball. needless to say, i love my new taylor made irons! and cant wait to play my next round!

If your looking into steping up your game You have got to buy these irons! I was torn a little between this set and the callaway x-22's. The callaways were a great club but i dont regret for one minute spending the little extra money for the burner set. These clubs strike the ball so well and feel so great in both the back swing and the moment of impact. No golfer should be disapointed with these clubs. Buy them, Swing them, LOVE THEM!

The best clubs for the money
Review created: 06/11/09

I can say that I personally own these clubs with pride! What a great set of irons. I am a 15 handicap golfer, and I can truly say that I have seen a difference in my game. My fairway shots are more accurate and I hit more GIR. Right from day one, I felt a very solid ball strike anywhere on the club face. Great control, but also great power. I now step down one club on all my shots from what I previously used. If you are looking at spending a little bit of money on a good set of clubs, this is the set for you.

  The next logical step

The Taylor made tour burner irons seem like the next logical step as your game improves more toward high seventies than low nineties.I still need forgiving irons but not ones that feel like I'm hitting the ball with a tennis racket-these burners actually have a little "feel" to them. There will be an adjustment period because the burners feel a little bottom heavy at address but are beautifully balanced-they almost swing themselves. One round is a little early to start raving but I know I'm going to love these clubs. So I think if you're not quite skilled enough to use blades but are looking for a "tweener" set that are eye pleasing, forgiving on slightly off center hits, yet have enough feedback to allow you to work the ball a little then these should be given serious consideration-Brian

  Straightest I've ever hit!
Review created: 07/02/09

I've been playing golf for a lot of years and a 9 hdcp. I have played a lot of different clubs over the past 20 years and liked many of them. I have to say I don't change clubs very often and after 4 years with my Cleveland TA6's, which I love, I bought these first because of the looks. I hit a few into the net at Edwin Watts and loved the feel. I contacted my son who is a PGA pro and is on the Taylor Made staff and got a price and bought them. Got them home and went to the range the next day and must say I've never hit a club this straight shot after shot. Feel is wonderful and very forgiving. I like these 2008 models better than the 2009 because of the thinner leading edge and sole. Great looking club and with regular flex graphite shafts they work great for me.

Buy them and you won't be sorry.

  BEST OF THE BUNCH
Review created: 09/19/09

(Hdcp: 7) I currently own and have played the following irons...Callaway x-14 pro series, cleveland TA-7s, taylormade rac os, taylormade r7s, nike pro-combo, and have demo'd callaway x-20 standard and tour series, there are more but I will stop there.
The Taylormade Tour Burners, imo, are the best of the bunch. They have the perfect blend of progressive offset, med. thin top-line head shape, size and they inspire total confidence at address. I installed a set of project-x shafts that add a consistent trajectory and outstanding feel. A little draw, a little fade, is a piece of cake with these babies.
I've read that some people think the cavity graphics are a little busy...(i don't totally disagree)...but if that is all you can find not to like about these clubs then get over it. Just enjoy looking at your ball flying towards it's target. As we all know...there's no prettier sight than that!

  ok club

They were head weighted too much so it would lead me to a draw that i didnt want. The shafts were light so it was easy to hit but the club was too bottom heavy. On the plus side they were very forgiving and easy to hit.

  Distance and more distance
Review created: 07/10/09
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

These clubs are perfectly weighted. They made my swing much more fluid and consistent. Ive had trouble hitting my long irons in the past, but not the case anymore. First few times out I lowered my average score by at least 10 strokes. They’ve added an additional 10-20 yards, depending on the club. I see myself breaking 80 regularly as soon as I learn to control the much added distance. I keep overshooting the greens.

  Great set of irons!
Review created: 07/08/09

I purchased 3-PW with stiff graphite shafts. I've never tried graphite in my irons before but I thought I'd see how they hit. First of all, the Burner Irons with steel or graphite hit the ball LONG. I've never played irons that are this long. With graphite the feel is like butter when you make solid contact.

I've let other people hit these and I see the same jaw dropping look every single time and a response similar to WOW!

The clubs are very accurate. All in all, I'm very, very happy with these irons. I highly recommend them.

I've only used the tour burners a few times so far but I can say they feel great. And they look beautiful too! When you pure it you can't even feel the ball at all. I can't recommend them enough.

A good set of Journeyman quality irons
Review created: 11/01/09
by:

The TM Tour Burner is exactly the club for an advancing golfer with a swing speed at or below 90 mph. After playing TM RAC OS clubs for a year I decided it was time to move to a more workable club. My age dictated graphite shafts and my swing speed lead me to the Tour Burners. I found them to be not as easy to hit as the RAC OS club. You need to work a little harder on your posture and swing. They will give you immediate feedback when you don't hit the sweet spot. But when you do connect cleanly it is a thing of beauty.

In my opinion TM Tour Burners are an excellent choice for a fairly serious golfer with a slower swing speed. If you play a half dozen rounds per year and hit one bucket of balls in preparation for each round, you may find these clubs a little too unforgiving. A good oversize set will probably yield more satisfying performance and lead to far less frustration. But if you are hitting a couple of buckets of balls per week and playing regularly, you will have no trouble adapting to these clubs. They strike the ball cleanly yielding a very reliable straight flight (mine take a natural draw). The swing-wieght is perfect and they look beautiful at address.

If you continue to progress you may find a forged club (like the ones the pros play) will allow you to work the ball more, but for a semi-serious weekend duffer these clubs should serve for many years and many enjoyable rounds.

Bought a set of irons (used) on Saturday night, payed for them on Sunday, and UPS delievered them on Wednesday. They were very clean and in great shape. Also, they were packed well with pads in between the clubs to keep them from hitting eachother, nice touch!

  Burner Irons
Review created: 10/09/09
by:

I have only played one round with them so far due to weather. It snowed last night so plans to play this weekend dont look promising. They seem like a great Iron. I am getting alittle more distance than my Titlest 804's. I still may hae to have them bent 1 degree flat. But love the feel of them so far. Once I play them more, I will be able to give more feedback. Rich
