The Rescue Fairway is exceptional but try all models

Okay, first off, for those unaware, there were 2 types of clubs in the first Rescue series. The Rescue Mid and The Rescue Fairway

The Rescue Mid is a nice little club, but to be honest, it has a slight tendency to draw the ball, which I found really annoying, and is why Taylormade released the Rescue Dual model. Ask any pro or golf shop dealer what the general consensis was on the Mid range, and they will tell you a slight draw is common. But they are very easy to use, and from the rough, they are 2nd to none, producing long easy shots, as the shafts are a lot shorter than their cousin, the Rescue Fairway. The lofts come in the following:
2h - 16 degrees
3h - 19 degrees
4h - 22 degrees
5h - 25 degrees

The Rescue Fairway is a fantastic club. They come in 3 models, but be careful, they claim to be a 3Wood a 5Wood and a 7Wood, but the lofts are a little incorrect. All the Fairway models, produce a fairly high flying ball, but reasonably long and penetrating which is great. They do not fade or draw badly, and if they are hit well, they go dead straight, its amazing to watch.

The 3Wood is fantastic, but its 17 degrees, so it hits more like a 4 Wood. It is so so easy to hit long straight shots that I fell in love with this club.
I often prefer this club to a driver as it is often better to be only 190 yards down the fairway, than 240 yards into the water.

The 5Wood is also exceptional, but it is 20 degrees, so again, its tendency is more to be a 6Wood, and can sometimes hit quite a very high ball, but still gives fantastic accuracy.

The 7Wood is useless, its more like an 8 or 9 wood, and bubbles a lot, so that you're better off just using a 7 iron.
The lofts of the Rescue Fairway are:
3Wood - 17 degrees
5Wood - 20 degrees
7Wood - 23 degrees

Having said all that, I would strongly suggest that you try the Ben Hogan range of clubs aswell, and see which you prefer, as I found the Hogan and the Taylor Made were the best of all the rescue models that companies have made.

Easy to Hit, Stops on the Green The Perfect Rescue!
Review created: 09/23/05(updated 01/16/06)

The Taylor Made Rescue clubs are perfect for golfers of all abilities. Easy to hit and forgiving, they will quickly become your go to club in many situations. I find them easy to hit in many situations. I use the 22 degree off the tee on long par 3's and from the fairway when a long iron is not enough in windy conditions. They are also great to use when chipping from the fringe around the greens. These clubs come in many different lofts and it's easy to replace a 2,3, 4 or even 5 iron. I find that senior players and women in particular are using them with great success. The top men players in my area have also added the Taylor made rescue clubs to their bags.

The thing that I liked best about these clubs is that they are easy to hit and they are versatile. I can hit them in many situations and that is a great thing to have in my bag for many conditions and situations that come up on on the golf course. I use it for long par 3's, for laying up off the tee, for chipping around the greens and for getting out of the long rough. A great club for a great price!

  My current favorite club!
Review created: 09/26/05

I was initially skeptical of this club, as I don't like hitting fairway woods, but this club really does hit like a long iron. You can address the ball just like you would a long iron, but the club is just so much easier to hit. It also seems to have a pretty forgiving face, as balls I didn't hit square would still go far.

The club is light and has a very satisfying ping as it goes off the face. I'm planning on using the club consistently and retiring my 2,3 and 4 irons!

I got the 22 degree, which I would recommend as an amateur player. It gives me a little bit more confidence getting below the ball on more difficult lies, which I don't know I would be with the 18 deg.

I predict this club will definitely take some strokes off my game on par 5's and longer par 4s.

Rescue Mid as good as any hybrid on market today!
Review created: 06/07/06

About me: I'm a mid- to high- handicap golfer and play 1-2 rounds a month.

I currently carry 2 hyrbids in my bag (2-iron and 3-iron Nickent Genex 3dx Ironwoods). I have owned and played both the Nike CPR ironwood type hybrid and the TaylorMade Rescue Mid.

Hybrid clubs have definitely helped my game. As advertised hybrids are generally easier to hit than long irons, get the ball in the air quickly, and fly higher and farther than the irons these clubs are intended to replace. They are versatile and can be hit from the tee, the fairway, the rough, out of fairway bunkers, and even used on chip shots from the fringe.

Performance: As far as hybrids go, I love the TaylorMade Rescue Mid. Its a super easy to hit club with a very low and back center of gravity. Its forgiving and long. I think its likely as good as any hybrid on the market today (particularly for the average player). Certainly better than the Nike CPR that I have played and as good as the Nickent Genex 3dx’s I currently play.

I had the TaylorMade Rescue Mid 20 degree in the stock graphite shaft. After having some trouble with the distance control of the graphite, I decided to switch to steel shafts. Based on cost, I opted for the Nickent Genex 3dx, which has a virtually identical clubhead design for almost ½ the price.

Bottomline: The TaylorMade Rescue Mid is a great hybrid and delivers solid performance. Probably as good as any hybrid on the market for us average golfers. Price wise its competitive with the other major golf manufacturers offerings: Callaway Heavenwood, Cleveland Halo, Cobra Baffler, etc. On a price for performance basis, I think most average golfers will be extremely happy with this club.

If you’re looking for an even better value, you may want to check out the Nickent Genex 3dx’s. I’ve played the Nickent clubs for almost 2 years and have been extremely pleased with their performance. Virtually identical clubhead to the Rescue Mid for almost ½ the price.

TaylorMade Rescue Mid #3 & #4 Hybrid Wood Golf Clubs
Review created: 10/20/05(updated 04/12/07)

Purchased both the #3(19*)& #4 (22*)Rescue Mid Hybrid fairway woods. Great clubs. Found that the #3 Rescue is hits longer than any 3 iron it is supposed to replace. The distance of the #3 Rescue is compareable to a #2 iron or a #5 fairway wood. The same applies to the #4 Rescue which I am using to replace my 3 iron. I don't have the #3 Rescue in my bag, using my #5 fairway wood instead. It is intersting to note that the Cleveland Halo Hybrids woods #4 is 25* and their #3 is 22* which seems to correspond with my experience in what degree of a hybrid wood replaces what iron. The hybrid clubs should give you a more consistency than your long irons. They are great out of the rough. The TaylorMade rescue have a tendency to draw some times more that you may want. Great for those who tend to fade their shots. Would have given a rating of 5 if the "iron replacement number" was more accurate.
4/10/07: This a update on the above. I found that the tendency to draw the ball grow more and more with these clubs. They are now in "retirement" and I have replaced them with the four iron from my current set of irons (2003 Big Bertha) and a Big Bertha nine wood. I would think that if you have a problem slicing the ball that these clubs would be the club(s)for you.

My Best Clubs For Lower Scores, Give Them A Try
Review created: 06/05/06(updated 10/13/06)

I am a 7 handicap golfer from Baton Rouge Louisiana. I bought the 25 deg. 5 wood TaylorMade Rescue Mid about a year ago. I use it for 180 to 190 yard shots. The club is very easy to hit and gives a nice high shot that stops quickly. I am now purchasing the 22 deg. 4 wood to take the place of my fairway wood. I use these clubs on long par 3's and short par 4's. They are great for punching out from under trees in the fairway and also chipping from the fringe around the green. They are much more accurate than my long irons and I can swing easier and with more confidence. I have tried several other brands of rescue clubs listed on e-bay but the Taylormade is by far the best in my opinion. These will surely stay in my bag. Randall

Ya gots ta luv the hybrids!

I am now a 9 handicapper, down from 14 last year, in large part due to these clubs. I have 3 of these hybrids now, all Taylormade Mid Rescue clubs: the 3 (19 degrees), the 4 (22 degrees), and the 5 (25 degrees). They have replaced my 2, 3, and 4 irons respectively; those irons are now in the closet for good!. The hybrids are easy to hit long and straight, and are great for coming out from under trees. It's almost like having an unfair advantage on the 180 - 210 yard shots. For the price of one club, you could get two useless lessons instead. Remember what Lee Trevino said when asked why he held a 2-iron in the air during thunderstorms? "Only God can hit a 2-iron." But anyone can hit a hybrid.

  TaylorMade Rescue Mid 5
Review created: 09/07/06
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The RescueMid has saved my golf game. It has allowed me to take the long irons out of my bag. I originally purchased the 3(19 degrees) and 4(22 degrees) to substitute for the same number irons. That created a gap since these clubs go further than the same numbered long irons. That gap was filled with the 5(27 degrees) mid to replace the 4 iron. I now have 3 -4 RescueMids and 5 - SW irons and this seems to fit my game extremely well.

The ball flight with these clubs is much better than the comparable iron, high and stops very well. If you're having problems stopping the ball on the green with a long iron it would server you well to give these a try.

I bought the 2 and 4 hybrid rescue clubs last year and I can't believe the difference in my game. No longer do I fear that 190 to 215 yard second shot with a 3 or 4 iron. These clubs are so forgiving and I can hit them high and land softly. i believe soon be 2 types of players, those who are playing hybrids and those that soon will be.

  TaylorMade Rescue Mid hybrid irons
Review created: 12/06/07
by:
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I liked the TaylorMade Rescue (Graphite reg flex) Mid 3 (19*) sooo much, I went back on Ebay and bought the 2 (16*), 4 (22*), and 5 (25*) hybrid rescue clubs. I struggled last year on many fairways, and off of the tee on narrow par fours and long par threes. My TaylorMade "Burner" supersteel (graphite bubble shaft) standard 3, 5, and 7 woods are now out of my bag!(As are the 3,4, and 5 irons)
I now hit the SUPERSTRAIGHT Rescues off of the fairway and some tees, and what is happening?? I'm playing the shortgrass off of the tee, and, when hitting from the fairway, I'm hitting MORE GREENS! Penalty strokes for hitting OB and Ka-splash are pretty much gone from my game.
I DO LOSE about 3/5 yards in distance, but I'm rarely hitting out of the TREES! I say..I'll take that! The design of these clubs is a god-send for the high-handicapper who often watches his fairway shot sail into the trees right or hook OB left. The 2 and the 3 Rescue Mid are just SUPER reliable, straight hitting fairway clubs. The ball goes straight with a slight fade that can be worked, even by me. The 4 and the 5 are my go-to clubs from 170 to 140 yds and they land soft, and DON"T BOUNCE OVER THE GREEN! I have not yet played the newer models, with all of the screws and doodads. I have seen the Rescue Dual TP in action, and it too is a great hybrid, but I paid less than 199 for all four of my Rescue Mids on E-Bay. (with headcovers) Try one of these Rescue Mids instead of a 2/3 iron, (or a 5/7 wood). You won't be disappointed.

Taylor Made Mid 4 iron Rescue Club

I was looking to but a Taylor Made Mid Rescue club anyway. I actually bought a 3 iron equivalent at Dick's Sporting Goods a month before. I wanted to be sure I liked it before committing to buying a similar 4 iron equivalent. After using it on a Myrtle Beach golf trip and loving it, I went back to Dick's to buy the 4. They were out of them and I was told it was a discontinued item.

I then went on e-bay, found many selections of a brand new 4 and bid on one. After a few days, and 3 bids, I wound up getting the club for about 40% savings from what I had paid at Dick's. Needless to say, I am very happy and only wish I had bought the hybrid 3 on e-bay also.

Didn't get what the seller advertised

I have a 19 degree taylormade mid rescue club with a stiff shaft. and I like it alot. So I wanted a 22 degree mid rescue club with a stiff shaft. So I bid on one that was advertised to be a 22 degree mid rescue club with a stiff shaft. I won the bid but I received the club with regular shaft. So I wrote the seller. He told me I should have known what I was buying. I wasn't pleased with that reply. I bought what he advertised. Stiff shaft. I told him I wouldn't buying anything from him again. Sounds like false advertising to me.

This club is a hybrid fairway wood made for golfers who have trouble getting their long irons in the air. It does do a fairly good job at that but the tendencies with this particular hybrid is for the better player ot higher swing speed players to hook or dramatically draw the ball. Keep looking, there are better hybrids out there that will hit it straighter while still hitting it high.

I am enjoying my new club. I was having a hard time hitting my long irons and this club makes it so muck easier. I decided to go with the taylor made brand because I have personally played with them in the past and loved it. Also I have done lots of research and Taylormade is one of the most widley used clubs on the PGA tour. If they are good enough for the pros then I'm sure they will work for me

These hybrids are easy to hit from tee, fairway or tight lie and look good at address. The steel shaft ones are nice but I prefer the feel of graphite. No matter what shaft you choose you will be happy with the peformance. Great ball flight and soft landing. If you find one at a good price I would recommend buying it and giving it a try for youself. I am sure you will be pleased.

I never thought a golf club could change my entire game the way this club has changed mine. I now carry in my bag 3 Rescue clubs replacing my 3, 4, 5 irons. These clubs are so much more forgiving, easy to swing and more distance with less effort. I have reduced my HDCP from an 18 to a 14 since starting to use these clubs

The club did not really work out for me. I was looking for a club to get me about 170-180 yards and this one gets about 200 on a good swing. It hits good and straight though. I would recomend it. I just needed more loft for my purposes.

I got this club to get more control in tight par 4s, and to reach greens in 2 in par 5s.
I hit it about 230/240.
Face is a bit closed. Easier to work a draw than a fade.
