Taylor Made RAC OS2 - excellent clubs!

I got the 3-PW + SW set of Regular steel shaft clubs. Everything arrived in order and excellent condition despite being shipped from US to Singapore.

I really liked the ultralight steel shaft (90gms) that is almost comparable to graphite's weight. I get the best of accuracy of steel shaft + the lightweight feel of graphite, perfect for intermediate beginners. It's a lot easier to hit than the RAC OS1 that I tried. I have 99% straight shots from iron 6-9. I'm still working on my 3 & 4 to correct my swing flaws. On top of that, it has an excellent launch angle (I think it's mid-high) that lauches the ball just right. I've tried the BB Fusion and the launch angle for some of the irons are just too high.

These are very forgiving for beginners like me, but they are not the most forgiving clubs in the market - if you want that, go for RAC CGB, BB Fusion or Ping G5. I'd rather correct my swing than having a permanent swing flaw that needs an ultra forgiving iron to correct everytime. I have the same feeling about offset drivers - it makes your swing flaw permanent.

I was choosing between a clone set (at less than 1/2 the price), and I'm glad I chose the real thing, cos my friend's clone set didn't feel as good, have the same accuracy or have as great a build as these!

I own a set and am totally pleased. You can pay more for other brands, but you won't find a better playing set of clubs. My game took a total upswing when I started playing these clubs.

Great clubs for the average Golfer
Review created: 01/07/07

2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The average golfer is always looking for a little help, becuase extensive time on the golf course may not be something you can do. I play 10-20 times a year and have never been able to consistantly play below the 13 handicap mark. Bought these clubs on Ebay after a little research and hitting them at a pro shop. Compared the TaylorMade RAC OS2 with some other Brands/Models but these irons felt great on contact and were very forgiving when not dead on the sweet spot. Great buy on EBay since they are not the latest irons TaylorMade has out. Hit the range and then played a round yesterday. Wow, I am very satisfied with the RAC OS2 irons. Hit some great shots and only a couple times hit them bad enough not to get a result I was pleased with (which my bad swing caused). But, I definately noticed that more than once on a questionable swing and contact I still came out with a decent shot.
Likes - Priced well, very forgiving, feel right, and they look great. Looking forward to better than average golf this season.
Dislikes - Nothing really, could have better grips, but I will change them out at some point anyway.

  TM OS2

I'm not a pro golfer and never plan to be. All I want to do is hit the ball long and straight. I have not played for many years, but a buddy talked me into it so I borrowed a set of clubs and hit the course.

I decided to get my own set, so I went to major spoorting goods store where you can hit the clubs. I asked the person working for their opinion on the most forgiving clubs and they pointed me towards the OS2. I hit many different clubs but liked the looks and feel of the OS2. They were more than I wanted to spend, so I went on Ebay and bought a used set for about half price.

I was hitting in the mid 90's. After only six rounds I've gained 10 to 15 yards and am hitting in the mid 80's. You can always tell when you don't hit the ball square. With these clubs they still travel staight and long. I would say they are a mid to high launch, but most of all very forgiving. Once I start hitting the sweet part more, I'm sure to drop a few more strokes.

I'm a firm believer in trying before buying. If this is mot an option, buy a used set like I did. If you don't like them sell them. At least you won't lose much money if any at all.

GOOD LUCK

Great product, large sweet spot, good yardage even on miss hits, able to shape shots. Wanted to upgrade without having to pay the $700.00 and up price tag. These clubs are a great price and will help anyone with a high or middle handicap.

I bought these golf clubs because my other set of clubs were stolen from the trunk of my car.
Questions about the clubs were answered very quickly. The clubs was in excellent condition with hardly any wear on the faces and had superb grips.
The seller made the effort to package them very well and consequently shipped and arrived without damage. Shipping, by the seller, was very prompt.
I love the clubs! They have given me more confidence on the course. Now, all I need is a good swing to go with these great clubs.

TaylorMade RAC OS 2005 Iron Set Excellent Clubs
Review created: 07/20/09
by:

These 2005 TaylorMade oversize RAC irons are very well made irons, very forgiving, easy to hit and look good in your bag. Combined with TaylorMade Driver R7 and Woods, there seem to be guarantees that you will lower your score tremendously. Well balanced, heavy on the bottom and two degrees upright, make it easier to just hit the balls without having to try scooping the balls out from the lay up.

The best part is that you don't have to upgrade nor compete with newer models of other brands, since these irons are a sure things and these irons will always look good in the years ahead, never get out of style. In addition, you get your money's worth and you get your scores lowered instantly. They are like a super immediate cure to your constant slices, fumbles and hooks. With 7 iron alone, I got an extra 10 to 15 yards more that my other brands - 7 irons. Very happy and I cannot wait to use these on my next competitive games in weeks to come. So get yours and you will see the difference! Don't take my words for it, take a demo hits from your local golf shop who still stock them and see for yourself what I am writing about...

  six years off
Review created: 11/09/08
by:

Love these irons. I took six years off of golf do to family and sold my king cobra 2 irons. I recently purchased a set of the rac os 2 irons and after six years of no practice went out and shot a round of 88. These clubs are very forgiving, and make it really easy to get the ball in the air. They are great for the weekend golfer who wants to improve his or hers scores or somebody who wahts to learn how to golf but dosent want to spend a ton of money on irons yet.

  Taylor Made RAC OS2 Irons
Review created: 11/05/08
by:

Great forgiving irons here. I purchased these irons with the stiff flex shaft. Although I cannot play a stiff shaft iron well at at all. I could not pass up the great ebay price.

My friend is a club maker, and I took the irons to him to have regular flex stepless shafts installed.

These irons make the ball fly high, far, straight and with much ease. This is going to be a set I have for a while.

I would recommend these irons to a wide range of golfers. It is hard to go wrong with Taylor Made quality!

Sweet set of clubs for most abilities
Review created: 08/14/08
by:

I bought these Taylor Made OS 2 , 3- pw because I wanted to try something a little more forgiving than my older TM 320s and wasn't mentally or financially ready to commit to the whole new club buying process yet. Have been happy with most TM products and there seemed to be a lot availabe on ebay. Was able to see about what would win a bid. Bought these for $200 on ebay in good condition and I am pleased with the decision. I hit them straighter and better and hit far more greens with mid to high irons, especially 7 iron and up which is what I wanted. (I am a 14 handicap who normally scores somewhere in the 80s) I am quite happy with the clubs. I did a bit of research on line beforehand, reading reviews both good and bad and also hit some previous generation OS irons from my friend's set. They are long and straight and high and pretty consistent on distance. Feedback is a little less than with my old clubs but you still know if you hit it well or missed it a bit. They are confidence inspiring even from the rough. I do not carry the 3 iron but the 4 iron is pretty easy to hit and I now sometimes carry it instead of my 4 hybrid. I have hit the 3 iron at the driving range and even the 3 iron is easier to hit than other sets but I am not ready to go back to that long of an iron.
One note is they are lofted stronger than my old set and the PW with this set is more like a 9 iron so you may have to readjust your club selection. You can get the lofts and specs off the TM web site. I bought a lower lofted gap wedge (50 degrees) to keep the gap between the PW and my gap wedge at 5 degrees. The TM OS2 look pretty good for a forgiving cavity back and have a fairly clean design. Frankly I think the original OS had an even cleaner design but I wanted to buy something newer and I think these came out in 2005. I have the standard lightweight steel shafts in regular flex which seem nicely mated to the clubs. I would have happily bought the True Temper dynamic gold regular flex shafts as well but this is what the bid I won came with and they are fine for me. I am in my late 50s and my driver club head speed tests out just in the low nineties. I still prefer steel shafts in my irons. The grips are the original TM rubber which are OK but will probably be replaced next season due to wear.
These OS2 do make it harder to hit deliberate draws or fades. They want to go straight if you put even a decent swing on them. Although I occasionally have to or want to work the ball a little I can live with better shots and less workabilty. It is also more difficult to hit low knockdown shots. They are designed with a lower center of gravity to hit the ball high. I hit a high ball anyway but again I do not see this as much of a problem unless you are more highly skilled or play where you always need that kind of shot. I think most players will like them out of the rough as the low center of gravity helps get the shot up quickly.
I do not use the A wedge or S wedge that matches the set as I already had several TM RAC chrome wedges I bought to use with my old set.
I am quite pleased with the clubs and would recommend them to anyone from a 10 handicap on up.

How awesome are the TaylorMade RAC Series?
Review created: 08/06/08

Oh Ill tell ya! I love them. I think they are the best value in used clubs right now. I hit them compared to a more expensive Callaway X-20 or the Titileist AP-2 irons, and you can tell little difference. And for the average golfer, I think you would rather feel the savings then the minute difference in playability.

Great value in previous generatoin clubs
Review created: 08/03/08

I bought this set of Taylor Made RAC OS2 in June of 2008. The clubs were sealed in the manufacturers box. The date of manufacturing was November 2007. The design of these clubs were released in 2005, so they're not the "latest technology". Although, I don't believe the technology in golf clubs is nearly sophisticated as the marketing of golf clubs. I think these irons play every bit as well as the R6 line and I've them both. I've replaced a set of Nickent Genex with these and am very pleased. They look great and feel great. Quite forgiving and they have a slightly lower face angle than my previous irons which provides for greater distance. The MSRP was $679. The original retail price tag was $500. The sale price tag was $399. And I gottem on Ebay for $299.

  Taylormade RAC irons really rock
Review created: 06/24/08

Taylormade makes the best clubs. I've never hit a Taylormade club I didn't like! Didn't Will Rogers say that about his Taylormade set?!? I was looking for this exact set in senior flex never thinking that I would find them; and then lo and behold they show up on e-bay. In the end I paid a really good price for them. bridgestone make the best balls: the 330's e-5's and the e-6's, and the precept, but Taylormade makes the best clubs! THE END
