Almost the Ideal Driver for the TaylorMade line

I present to you the 540xd. To my eye the head is shaped a tad awkward in design and yet, it delivers a good moving trajectory. I have the 9.5* w/a YS6 Stiff shaft. Im not a big fan of the high-gloss black, producing every star-bright reflection on my woods...but it does get the job done. THE FEEL AT IMPACT-a medium to hard impact feel followed by a sound of "POP!" not a ting, ping or crack is my best description of sound. The initial flight of trajectory is pretty impressive on the way up to its peak, then for me, it dies out and drops. This may be due to the lack of velocity of my own swingspeed. The loft is pretty much what it is...you play a 9.5* your gonna get that flight, unless of course, you have a crisp snap at impact then your ball flight is gonna climb with authority. If you can find a unmolested driver with the original shaft in it, and you want to be wise is the cost factor, I would recommend this driver with 70% confidence. Better than above average if you can look past the appearance of the driver. Yes, you will need to tee it up some...using the typical 2.5" tees will not serve you well. Hitting below the equator fo the face will shorten the distance, still going striaght, but nevertheless short. While at your stance, your looking at a the ball, the thought comes to mind "dang...no way that I can miss the sweetspot" and for most part its true...but, any closing of the face at impact will be reflected as the short left hook (for the right handers). If you want to overplay the open face, yes it works very well for a degree or two but, that is it. Its a good transistion from the older line of TaylorMades if your climbing the TM ladder.
