The TaylorMade Burner 460 is beautiful in black with a unique design on the crown that doubles as aiming device. It has a low-profile appearance with new technology aerodynamics. It feels incredibly light, but hits very solidly. The 460 Burner feels like you can generate tremendous clubhead speed, even if you aren't actually doing it. It makes a nice, explosive sound on center impact. The Burner 460 has a very generous sweet spot, so off-center impact results in a relatively low, straight and long drive. Remember, no re-play cameras on "our" courses. How the golf ball got there and what the ball flight looked like are strictly your business. My drives are high, straight and really long--often over 290 yards! Incidently, the slightly closed-face is no obstacle to working the ball--fade or draw. As a side note, the paint on the sole lasts longer than on earlier Taylor-Made Drivers. There is also a Burner 460 Draw Driver for golfers fighting a slice.
The Fujikura Re-AX 50 gram shaft is so light, you'll have to check to ensure club head is still attached. Recently, I had my Burner re-shafted with a Fujikura Fit-On E260 Flex-S shaft. Although it weighs 66-68 grams, the Fujikura E260 is slimmer and it has a mid/high kick point. Now, my drives fly slightly lower than with the Re-AX shaft. Because most factory-installed shafts and grips are cheap, I HIGHLY recommend you get fitted for a custom shaft and grip to maximum your results. After all, the club shaft is "the ENGINE that drives the car." By the way, the factory grip is thin to the point of near non-existence. I like the Golf-Pride DD2 and I love the GripMaster one-piece, Pro perforated leather grip. GripMaster is, by far, the tackiest grip I have used and it feels great. The headcover is huge and difficult to remove/reapply. Many after-market head covers will NOT easily fit it.
I don't miss any of my previous drivers. TaylorMade simply seems to "own the corner" on driver technology these days and the Burner 460 is further evidence of TaylorMade Driver Dominance (TDD). Among drivers today, it may not get any better than this. It's still a great buy and I am not sure any of the newer Taylor-Made Drivers are any longer, more forgiving or more accurate. I hit my 460 Burner as far as I hit my Ping G10 driver.
