The fourth album by San Francisco based jam band rockers Tea Leaf Green, TAUGHT TO BE PROUD was originally released in 2005. The group's public profile was then raised considerably, thanks in large part to the band's support slot on a national solo tour by former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio. Reissued in 2008 by the band's new label, Surf Dog Records, TAUGHT TO BE PROUD includes fan favorites like the instantly catchy title track, the tongue-in-cheek ballad "Flippin' the Bird," and the soaring, anthemic "5000 Acres." The final album to include original member Ben Chambers, who was replaced by Reed Mathis on 2008's RAISE UP THE TENT, TAUGHT TO BE PROUD is the culmination of Tea Leaf Green's first era.
