I love this one because I can remember the tour with Mick riding on a CHERRY PICKER around the Stadium in Chicago! I think it was a brilliant tour and I can still JAM to Emotional Rescue!
Has some of the best stuff done by the Stones. Only 11 cuts, but these are hard driving classic rock and roll. Some are very mello, like Waiting on a Friend. Nice graphics on the jewel case.
CD is awsome from its heydays. Can't find Hang Fire on any greatest hit cd,which is truly sad, because its one of its better songs,so is waiting on a friend. Have you seen the video to this song(early MTV days) groove sound.....
It's the classic Stones, what's not to like about it. It brings back the good ol days, when life was less stressful! Even my 12-11 year old like it. I decided to buy it to add to my collection of the old classic rock.
Do the Stones have a bad album? This is the closest they get to one and it's still better than most band's greatest hits. Start Me Up is an anthem, Black Limousine rocks, Hang Fire is a catchy 80's thing, Slave is a bluesy number with a cool rythem, Neighbors is a bunch of yelling until the chorus kicks in, and there a couple of nice ballads in Tops and No Use In Crying, as well as the classic Waiting On A Friend. There is some strange stuff on this album, though. Little T & A is weird, as are Worried About You and Heaven which kind of sound like they had been done by Prince instead of the Stones. I thought this was one of the worst albums I had ever heard after hearing it. But I listened to it a couple more times and realized that it wasn't bad. It was just a different direction the Stones took on this album. I don't know how many times I've listened to one of their albums and was either disappointed or didn't really think too much the first time through. Then I listen to it again, and I'm like whoa. Where'd they come up with this genius? Even the weird songs kind of grow on you. I found myself humming the chorus of Little T & A going "I thought I hated that song". Guess I changed my mind. Same thing happened the first time I listened to Exile on Main Street, although not to the same degree. I didn't like it as much until I listened to it like three times. Now it's one of my all time favorite albums. I wouldn't go as far as to say that about Tattoo. But it's an album that shows a lot of variety and good musicianship. After a few listens, even the weird ones are pretty cool. Just like the Stones.
Nowhere near the Stones best like the great 4 album run from 1968-1972, but at least it's back to some roots rock after the Emotional Rescue days.
Several songs, including the hit "Waiting On a Friend" were songs that had been written in the early 70's during their recording days in Jamaica.
Bill Gates saw to it that we all got sick of "Start Me Up" with the mega Windows 95 release, and the album definitely brings back bad memories of seeing Mick touring American stadiums in spandex and football jerseys. But probably the Stones last decent effort.
nothing like classic rolling stones rock and roll music. I put this on my mp3 player and cruise around listening through my dynex fm transmitter and car stereo.
it does bring back such really good memories of my adolescent-young adulthood. I never realized how much I really loved music until the venue changed. rap just doesn't cut it for me.
