Tasha Tudor, a Master Craftswoman of Talent

If you love the crafts of yesteryear, this book is for you. The pictures and descriptions take you, the reader, back into another time when cloth was spun, the dark was lit by candlelight, and styles were timeless. The book is full of colorful pictures of Tasha's home, handbuilt by her son Seth using methods of yesteryear. Creating baskets, spinning yarn, making soap, and her handmade marionettes leap from the page as all in a day's progress at Tasha's farm and takes you back into a time when life was simpler, and less frenetic. In this book, Tasha shows how she came about her 'eccentric' lifestyle, with a tour of her dollhouse collection, her antique clothing collections, and her gardens and pets. I bought this book myself because many of the crafts that are considered heirloom are still practiced by some of my family, and are treasured activities that we keep alive. Definitely a book for the crafty person, pictures are breathtaking!

"Tasha Tudor's Heirloom Crafts by Brown,Martin
Review created: 08/21/09

I love this book, the photos, heirlook crafts, traditions, way of life that Tasha Tudor lived and raised her 4 children....takes you back to the 1800's when life was simple and rich and a homestead self sufficient with fireplaces, goats for milk & cheese, chickens for eggs and food, gardens.....Tasha Tudor even wove the wool from her sheep to make clothes for her children.....not only a quaint, charming and precious, happy life style for those who love to be and live close to nature!!! A Must for all libraries......of yester years---the joy, work, pride, and togetherness a family shared......

So much more than what you might think of as "crafts".

It is amazing what one woman can accomplish in her lifetime. Tasha Tudor not only loves the nineteenth century, she lives it. This book gives a peak into this truly unique industrios woman. You will want to take up one or all of these time honored, if highly abandoned, handicrafts.

I Really like Tasha Tudor and have been a fan for years. I have several of her books, including her children's books. She is an amazing woman! How she maintains her property herself, I cannot imagine.
Great subject matter and photography in the Tasha Tudor's Heirloom Crafts book. This book is a must for any crafter! I recommend all the books done by Richard W. Brown. Thank you so much.

Nothing to dislike about the book, the text, the photos. Tasha is a legend. She's not only one of, if not THE best illustrator of children's books, she's creative in every other way possible. As a single mother, she not only raised creative children, she passed on her talents and her family values. Her craftmanship is beyond good. I don't think I've ever met a person who didn't fall in love with this woman's work or have at least a secret small desire to be a part of her life.
Kudos to Tasha.
