I bought this book because I love L.M. Montgomery's other books. I have read and re-read the Anne series. In each book or collection of her short stories you are both entertained and given insight into the human psyche.
In this book a family tradition of marriage between the Darks and Penhallows is set on it's ears. When Aunt Beck is on her "death bed" she reveals in revealing family secrets and each person's biggest "shame". There is a huge fight over who gets the family jug, an heirloom brought from overseas by one of the first Penhallow/Dark women. The "fight" over the family jug breaks one match while promoting another unlikely one, causes a women who left her husband on thier wedding night to be reconciled and many other happenings to occur. The big night when who will get the jug finally arrives - who will get the prized heirloom? you'll have to read the book to find out. This book is humorous, poignant and presents a dozen morales along the way.
If you liked other books by L.M. Montgomery, you'll be enchanted with this novel.
