A completely charming blend of contemporary Brooklyn indie pop attitude and the textures of vintage 1970s soft rock--imagine the Yeah Yeah Yeahs tackling Carole King's TAPESTRY--the debut album by Elizabeth & the Catapult is filled with winsome, playful pop songs. Highlights include "Race You" and "Mama's Boy," the album's bounciest tracks, although the acoustic ballad "Apathy" is equally delightful.
