Works for adults too

I first read this 20 years ago to apply to my goddaughter. Recently, while awaiting the adoption of our first child from China, I bought it again and it is still right on. This works really well on adults (and husbands) as well, as it teaches us how to listen and VALIDATE another's feelings, which just cuts to the chase and eliminates any smokescreen or confusion. We all need to have our feelings validated and to learn to compromise. Children are so often told by adults to distrust their feelings, i.e. "I'm cold." Mom replies "No you're not, it's warm in here." etc. Since so many children never learn to identify their feelings, hence a difficult marriage in future, it teaches that feelings are not right or wrong, but are okay to have and are okay to verbalize without being threatened with a put down. A really good book to help with everyone you have to deal with from your family to your boss.
