TALES OF TERROR

"Tales of Terror," like other Mill Creek Entertainment 50-movie compilations, attracted me because it contains titles I have always wanted to see but have not been able to obtain individually, e.g., "The Sadist" with Arch Hall Jr. In fact, a number of films on "Tales of Terror" are reviewed in the "Forgotten Horrors" series of books started by George E. Turner and Michael H. Price, and now continued by Price and John Wooley. Some of these titles include the Afrucan American-themed horror items "Chloe," "Midnight Shadow" and "The Devil's Daughter," rarities that I believe the lover of obscure or little-known films would be otherwise hard-pressed to locate. I think the inclusion of some of the Italian-made horror films starring Barbara Steele are interesting choices for inclusion in this collection, although "Long Hair of Death" and "Terror Creatures from the Grave" definitely are not classic examples of the genre. The only drawback I see to the collection is the quality of some of the films, but since these were taken from what are probably the best prints available, that's not the fault of Mill Creek Entertainment. As in "Dark Crimes" (really one of Mill Creek's best) and "Historical Classics," this compilation is a must for those seeking films that you don't see on TV at all anymore and I only look forward to future collections from this company.
